One could make the argument that Spurrier=Richt. Spurrier had crazy good talent at UF for most of his time there yet only won one NC.

I think its most important that you are always relevant in the SEC because that usually means in the mix for the NC. However there are no guarantees even if you are in the mix you must win (even one). That's why UGA and LSU were insane this year to mess around with coaches that usually made them relevant. And also why it was such a huge mistake to get rid of CPF who made us relevant during most of his years at UT.
