Confident USU Fans (blue cool-aid)

Glad you're confident now.. You're gonna get eaten alive when ya come back here after y'all's beat down..

I'm sure the same people predicting 20-30+ point blowouts will talk the same amount of sh*t after ya'll win by 7.

What would I get eaten alive for when that happens? For predicting a close game?

It's not gonna be close pal..

Actually yes, you're right. The XP as well.

MGM has it a 6 point spread, so if it's just a TD (no XP) then you push and get your money back.

Okay I honestly didn't know, I just made my first bet on anything ever tonight and that was with my friend. He told me Arkansas would beat Auburn. I told him I'd put 50 Auburn would bet them by 21 at least. He said he'd beat me 50 That Arkansas would just beat them outright. I'll take his money all day with that.

It doesn't help your case to point out that I don't even know the kid's name.

I wouldn't expect you to. I knew just about none of the names of Tenn players before recently. I think I heard of North, and I may have heard your QBs name (Worley?) because of how bad he was. That's about it.

Chuckie Keeton is getting the most press of any player on either team by far.

Great bet. Auburn is favored by 21 points I believe in that game.

USU is a good football team... they should be confident...and they are catching the Vols at the most opportune time of the season to steal a win.

HOWEVER... It won't happen for the Aggies. This match-up is reminiscent of the day Butch brought his 2nd Cinci team to Knoxville. UT will give up some plays... but will make many, many more.

UT 45 - USU 27

Cincy had Pead, Thompkins and a good QB.

North has gotten a ton of positive press this off season.

"USU 38, Tennessee 10.

Yes, I believe that. I think they're only touchdown will be either late in the game against our 2nd string defense or from our offense turning it over. I think our defense/ST will put us in position at least twice to get a short TD or FG if not outright score. USU will bring it early and will not turn it off until half of Neyland Stadium is empty."

You're going to let him beat you for that? :loco:

Plenty of money to be made! Go bet it all on Tenn, minus 6.5

For all ya'll not well versed in the betting world, the Vols only have to win by ONE touchdown for you to win your bet.

Sounds like many of ya'll should be rich after this one now ya hear!

I don't gamble, but thanks.

Otherwise, nice diversion from speaking to the post itself. :hi:

No where did I say it would be an easy win, or even a win. I expect a close, good, hard fought game.

What do you want me to say to that?

Nothing I could say would be taken very seriously by ya'll around here anyway. The best defense I have is that the best oddsmakers in the world (who are responsible for millions of dollars for Las Vegas sports books) believe that this game will be about a 6 point win for Tenn. I could go on and on about why that is the case, but it would go over your heads.

I just want to make sure all ya'll who're makin these 20-30 point blowout predictions will still be 'round here eating some crow if USU pulls it off. :good!:

Well we have a guy that's already broken the Sportcenter Top 10 and hasn't even played a down for us yet. So I don't know what to tell you, watch ESPN I guess. He's the same guy that did this:

Von Pearson vs. Cam Sutton - YouTube

Hopefully for your sake the USU DB's are good enough to handle that.

So, you actually considered your incessant recommendations for wagers a serious response? No. You have nothing to say to it because it's all true, and also happens to be a very damaging series of facts to your argument.

I'll be here to congratulate both you and your team, if that happens. Seriously. I have no ill will towards you or USU. I actually like USU.

But the fact of the matter is that we've had a lot of lower-conf team fans come in here and giver better reasons than you as to why they will play us tough--actually by better teams and in weaker years than we project to be this year. The fact remains that we stomp them, they leave somewhat disillusioned, and we move on to the meat of our schedule.

If USU proves to be the exception, so be it. I'll congratulate you, hope for a great season for you guys, and dread the rest of ours.

But until that happens, just know that you are only one more hopeful fan among many who have come before you, cheering on one more lower-level team with grand hopes that rarely play out like you think they will. I'll see you here, however it turns out.

And I'll be gracious either way.

Oh... And odds makers set lines in order to regulate the money being wagered on each team. More than likely, they had to set a low line in hopes that someone would bet on USU. If they set a 30 pt line in UT's favor, how any people do you think would bet on USU? It's really a pretty simple concept.

If you thought they set the line based on actually trying to predict the final score, well... That's cute.

Because this happens every year. Every year we "kill" a team from a low conference that thinks because we lose to the toughest teams in the country, we will lose to anyone. Last year W. KY and their future NFL RB and SEC head coach were saying what you're saying now, we killed them.

An NC State team with a future NFL QB, which upset a would-be National Championship bound FSU was saying what you're saying, we killed them.

A loaded 11-win Cincinnati team was saying what you're saying, we killed them.

Sorry to disappoint, but losing to #6, #1, #2, #4, #5, and beating #10 in the country (rankings at the time we played them) doesn't make us a bad team. We are big. We are strong. We are fast, and we are talented. All of these are magnified when compared to teams like Utah State. No offense, y'all are very good for your level of play, but the SEC is NFLjr.

But I'm digressing. This is not about you and what you've done it's about us and what we've done to teams like you. So how about you tell me why all of a sudden you will be so much different than the others that came up against us with the same mindset you have?

When those 5 losses are by an average of 44-16...yes, it does make you a bad team.

UT is getting better but bragging about them getting their ass handed to them isn't proving anything.

You shouldn't try to be so condescending, makes it very hard to take what you post seriously. In fact know one knows what is going to happen. We may come out flat and USU may come out on fire or vice versa. Since you are coming to the game expect to have a good time, but I stay away from the I'm better than you attitude.

Those kind of losses keep us from saying we are a good team (which no one is saying), but 90% of the teams in the country would have had a similar experience playing those 5 teams. Especially in the order we played them, and I'm including all the big boys of the MountainWAC-12 or whatever their conference is called.

I read one thread where the "hickaggie" gentleman extrapolated the elite SEC level defense status he gives USU from a dominating performance over Wyoming. It seems he views UT as being about par with Wyoming. He even brought up Wyoming's fluke win in 2008 over a disillusioned and lifeless team whose head coach had just been forced to resign. His logic is humorous.
