Confidential Documents Reveal US Officials Lied About Afghanistan

Who even knows anymore? What candidates say they will do and what they actually do are usually far removed from each other.

There's no truth in advertising policy when it comes to politics ... nor anything that actually requires a candidate to know anything about the shiny objects in his platform. Bad and generally very expensive things will happen until we reform political campaigns ... especially the monetary part and that must preclude wealthy candidates like Trump and Bloomberg from being able to buy elections.

Well, the good news for my buddy is he already had trauma and I think the military was good for him. He was a guy that was prepared to see some ****, so that didn't ruin him, and his life is in much better order than I would have predicted back in HS.

As a member of NATO, we aren't meddling in Europe. We are supposed to be there and assist in their defense. Ironically, Trump wants to twist the nips of our NATO partners while he gets his backside violated by Putin. Those piss videos must exist.

Everywhere else = meddling.

I don't see a distinction between meddling where we aren't invited and meddling where we are. Those countries have protection under our umbrella and we have created dependency. I say it's time for NATO countries to bear the full cost of their own defense because Uncle Sam is in debt up past his eyeballs and I don't see them rushing to bail him out.

Lots of butt hurt from an Englishman with TDS a month BEFORE Trump saved us from Hillary. RW is a douche, although thumbs up on his tunes.

He's always been politically active. Pigs is a song that is plug and play relevant in any country, any year.

Yw, it all needs to end.

As far as I can tell, no foreign power has ever "won" or left a lasting positive impact on Afghanistan. Kipling may have summed up the futility of fighting there best.

When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains
An' go to your Gawd like a soldier.

The history books are filled with centuries of failure and despair at having been there, and yet our politicians couldn't resist.

Not sure why shocked. We went in. Destroyed the already sh!thole country...then decided to nation build. Been going on since WW2.

Even longer than that. Alexander the Great said Afghanistan is "easy to march into, hard to march out of." Among others, the Mongols were there; the British something like three times since 1800, and then much more recently the Soviets. We had ample warning not to go there, and our politicians did it anyway. The place is like a bug zapper for humans.

Afghanistan got its ass kicked quickly. Why we are still there after Bin Laden was killed would be a good question for Obama. We stay under the guise of nation building. I say F em, let em rot in hell.

It seems like everybody who invaded thought they could leave something "civilized" and stuck around trying to make it happen. It maybe just drove the bad guys underground until they could resurrect what they had before ... like the bucket of water after the hand is removed ... looks just like it did before the hand was inserted.

They have been doing what they do for hundreds of years.... Let them do it, without us.

As soon as I stepped foot in Afghanistan I knew the people were a lost cause.

I remember, when you were down
And you needed a helping hand
I came to feed you
But now that I need you
You won't give me a second glance
Now I'm calling all citizens from all over the world
This is Captain America calling
I bailed you out when you were down on your knees
So will you catch me now I'm falling

I thought you were old and knew better?

Yeah, but just think how simple life would be if we let knowing better dictate what we do.. It's really a means to an end - out of an urban environment - what was out 40 years ago isn't out now. I'd prefer country, but I'm settling for a very small town, and the price is right because the house has been in the family since the 50s.
