The 2008 election was going to be historic regardless of the outcome (first Black President or first female Vice Presidet). The media should have been beside itself. No matter what happened, they got to report on history as it was unfolding. Maybe I'm misremembering, but I don't believe there was much coverage explaining how monumental 2008 was. I only remember hearing "first Black President" over and over.
