If it was H1N1 pdm09 it would be rare these days. Influenza is lower this year than usual. She’s past the age of the college meningitis crowd. If she died of either I’d be surprised.

Washington (CNN) — A top federal prosecutor in Utah is continuing to investigate allegations that the FBI abused its powers in surveilling a former Trump campaign adviser and should have done more to investigate the Clinton Foundation, according to a source familiar with the matter.

While the Justice Department has not publicly commented on the investigation in almost a year, the source said acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker told former Attorney General Ed Meese during a breakfast meeting in Washington on Wednesday that US Attorney John Huber is continuing his investigation into the wide-ranging allegations.

The meeting was first reported by the AP.

The source said that Whitaker did not provide Meese with any details on Huber's work or his findings -- but this is the most recent indication from senior Justice Department leadership that Huber's work is still ongoing.

The source could not confirm who first raised the issue at the meeting or why it was being discussed.

In March 2018, amid calls by Republican lawmakers for a second special counsel, then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions revealed that Huber was looking into allegations that the FBI abused its powers in surveilling Carter Page, and investigating claims that more should have been done to investigate Hillary Clinton's ties to a Russian nuclear energy agency.
The department has provided no public updates on Huber's workand the source could not confirm to CNN when Huber will finish his investigation, or whether he has been able to substantiate any of the GOP's allegations.
Huber wields significant power as a federal prosecutor with the ability to bring charges and convene a grand jury, if necessary.

CNN has reached out to Meese for comment.

The letter from GOP Reps. Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows cited the transcript of a congressional interview with former General Counsel James Baker and his lawyer last fall, where the probe conducted by seasoned U.S. Attorney John Durham was confirmed.


“You may or may not know, [Baker has] been the subject of a leak investigation … a criminal leak investigation that’s still active at the Justice Department,” lawyer Daniel Levin told lawmakers, as he pushed back on questions about his client’s conversations with reporters.

It isn’t a “leak” if a person makes a statement on the record with their name attached to it. That’s called a “statement”.

The questioning this morning starting off on this subject by Lindsay Graham was a clear gratuitous nod to the right wing loons who want to make this about secret agent Democrats at DOJ or part of Mueller's team.

One theory expressed to me just today is everybody is waiting in the Mueller farce to end. Then once that’s over the hammer drops on a large number including DOJ people via Huber. They won’t do anything while Mueller is active due to optics. But that’s another reason the corrupt in both parties want to drag Mueller’s farce out.

Not saying I agree or disagree. Just stating the opinion expressed.
