Control Of House 2022

House Democrat exit list grows to 28 as Rhode Island's Langevin, California's McNerney, announce Retirements

Two more House Democrats – Reps. Jim Langevin of Rhode Island and Jerry McNerney of California – announced on Tuesday that they won't seek reelection in this year's midterm elections.

The announcements from the two lawmakers brings to 28 the number of Democrats in the chamber who are retiring after the current term or seeking another elective office in November

Democrats hope to defend their razor-thin majority in the House in the midterms, amid a rough political climate. The GOP needs a net gain of just five seats in the 435-member chamber next year to regain the House majority it lost to the Democrats in the 2018 elections.

I want to see the democrat party crushed. They get worse every year.

Majority Of Millennials, Gen Zers Want Limits On Abortion; New Poll Finds | ZeroHedge

Consider Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that almost 50 years ago stripped abortion policy away from the states, setting up almost limitless abortion and making ordinary political engagement almost impossible. An extraordinary 8 in 10 Millennials and Gen Zers want to vote on abortion policy, up from 66% in 2021, while 3 out of 4 want limits on abortion and 4 in 10 want either no abortion or abortion only for the traditional exceptions – in cases of rape, incest, or when the mother’s life is in danger.

On taxpayer-funded abortion, a top policy position of the Democrat-controlled White House, Senate and House, 55% opposed using those resources to pay for abortions worldwide, and 54% support Hyde Amendment protections that limit taxpayer funding of abortion to the exceptions.

Liz Cheney Loses Wyoming Straw Poll to Trump-Backed Harriet Hageman

Wyoming Republican Harriet Hageman, endorsed by former President Donald Trump, showed a commanding lead against the Democrat-allied Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) in a Saturday straw poll full of House candidates held by the Wyoming Republican State Central Committee.

A secret ballot straw poll of Republican party activists gave Hageman 59 votes, a 53 vote lead against Cheney, according to the Casper Star-Tribune. Cheney garnered only six votes, along with state Sen. Anthony Bouchard (R-Cheyenne), who received two votes, and Denton Knapp, who received one vote.

While the state party is not allowed to endorse a candidate in the primary, according to the Star-Tribune, the poll enables party-goers to see what the current party leadership is thinking months ahead of the primary. Since Wyoming’s central committee is made up of 74 votes, consisting of three representatives from each county and members of the state party.

And of the 6 votes for Chaney, one was probably related to her and the other 5 were on her staff lol

Jim Cooper is done. He is hanging up his boots after this year. You hate to see it.

I'd like BB85 thoughts on the democrats odds in November given his interest in polls but last I found he was on the womens basketball board. Hopefully he hasn't been arguing with South Carolina female fans lately about how they aren't as good as they think.

Cooper becomes latest House Democrat to not seek reelection

Rep. Jim Cooper (D-Tenn.) announced Tuesday that he will not seek reelection this year, citing new congressional district lines that split up his home city of Nashville, which he's represented in Congress for decades.

Cooper acknowledged that he doesn't see a path to reelection under the state's new redistricting plan that would divide Nashville into three congressional districts.

Texas primary showdown bursts open after FBI raid

After a near-miss in 2020, Rep. Henry Cuellar's repeat primary challenge is getting a burst of energy after the FBI raided Cuellar's house.

The bitter rematch between Rep. Henry Cuellar and his former-intern-turned-progressive-challenger was riveting South Texas even before the March 1 Democratic primary. Then came an FBI raid of the congressman’s home.

While Cuellar hasn’t been charged with a crime, law enforcement officials' extraordinary move on the congressman’s home and campaign headquarters 26 days before early voting begins has upended the race. The raid is directing a groundswell of money, momentum and powerful endorsements to Democratic rival Jessica Cisneros, a 28-year-old attorney who lost to Cuellar by less than 3,000 votes two years ago.

The looming faceoff between Cuellar and Cisneros in Texas — which has the first congressional primaries of the 2022 midterms — will be an early test for progressives. Liberals are eager to build their footprint in Congress and notch primary wins after a run of disappointing losses in 2021 special elections.

There are several links between Pelosi Jr. and alleged lawbreakers including:

According to an SEC ruling, he joined the board of a biofuel company whose CEO was convicted of bribing Georgia officials

He was the president of a company that dealt in environmental investments was actually a disguise for two convicted conmen

He worked for a lithium mining business, got millions of shares, which were allegedly given as part of a whopping $164 million fraud

Previously, he served as vice president of a company under investigation for scam calls targeting seniors

It is alleged that he maintains close business ties with a man accused by the Department of Justice of stealing investors’ money by running a fake UN charity

An FDA investigation found that Pelosi’s former employer tested drugs on people without FDA authorization

There have never been any criminal charges brought against Pelosi Jr. in connection with these cases.

This comes after President Trump’s strong encouragement and offered endorsement for the potential candidacy of former State Department spokesman Morgan Ortagus.

Top GOP super PACs outpace Democratic counterparts

Republicans are winning the outside money chase as midterm elections approach, providing an extra boost over Democrats as the GOP seeks to recapture both chambers of Congress.

In the battle for the House, the super PAC and political nonprofit group aligned with Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California, the Congressional Leadership Fund and the American Action Network, respectively, raised a combined $110 million in 2021. The Congressional Leadership Fund, which can raise unlimited amounts of money, entered 2022 with a $61.2 million war chest.

Democratic counterparts House Majority PAC and House Majority Forward — the super PAC and political nonprofit group, respectively, aligned with Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California — raised only a combined $55 million last year. House Majority PAC, which, like its GOP counterpart, can raise unlimited amounts of money, entered 2022 with just $39.1 million in cash on hand.

Saw on the newstainment network I was watching this morning, in NC there is a movement to use the 14th amendment to bar people who participated or showed any support for the 1/6 protest from running for federal office. Sounds like it had support from the NC election commission so look for that to be tried in other states. Fits in nicely with the DHS memo that just came out.

What’s scary is they are going after people that simply “liked” a post or article regarding the protest.

Sending horse face to Texas helps Republicans. The Beto type messaging doesn't sit well and illegals can't vote yet.
How many people were actually at that "rally" I wonder. Someone at that rally said healthcare is a human right and not a privilege. I take it they are not for the discrimination against the unvaxxed now?
