I did not know that the SOH did not have to be a member of Congress. If true, wonder if the SOH would get a vote

Suozzi announces run for New York governor instead of seeking re-election in area Republicans have seen huge gains
Yet another blue seat will be up for grabs in the upcoming midterm elections after Rep. Tom Suozzi of New York announced on Monday he's stepping down to run for governor.
It's bad news for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as Democrats face an uphill battle to maintaining their thin majority in Congress just 11 months before the race.
Suozzi, a moderate Democrat representing Long Island's 3rd Congressional District, revealed his gubernatorial aspirations during a press conference this morning where he also admitted he was 'concerned' his seat may be won by a Republican in 2022.

SI House candidate Strips in Military Burlesque Show
Conservative Staten Island voters might take issue with this captain showing her privates.
Ex-Army officer Brittany Ramos DeBarros, a socialist looking to replace GOP Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis, bared more than her soul at an anti-war burlesque show at a Brooklyn bar, video obtained by The Post shows.
“In Staten Island where you have a disproportionate number of police, corrections officers and other law enforcement personnel who have served in the armed forces, this burlesque making fun of the armed forces will not go over well,” Hank Sheinkopf, a veteran Democratic strategist told The Post. “In the era when Democrats are seen as disorderly and out of control, all this does it make it more difficult to elect Democrats.”
The wild evening took place at Starr Bar in Flatbush, during which the retired captain and Afghan war veteran stripped off her camouflage uniform to nothing but red lingerie, as she gyrated to Edwin Starr’s iconic protest song, “War.”
DeBarros performed during a burlesque show at Starr Bar in Flatbush December 2019, using the stage name “Captain Unbecoming.”

Top moderate becomes Latest House Democrat to Announce Retirement at end of current term
Rep. Stephanie Murphy announced Monday that she will Not run for another term
Rep. Stephanie Murphy of Florida, a leader among the moderate wing of House Democrats, announced Monday that she will retire after her current term and not seek reelection in 2022.
Murphy becomes the 21st Democrat to retire or run for a different office in the 2022 midterm elections, as the party tries to defend its razor-thin majority in the House amid historically unfavorable headwinds and a rough political climate. Twelve House Republicans are retiring or seeking another office next year.

Or it's a precursor to some crazy crap in 2022 that they can pass without the concern of being re-elected. Call me a pessimist but this is my fear. When you start seeing this they are trying to get out because the leadership is bad. They are leaving in waves. The number appears unprecedented. I wish more decided not to be career politicians for get rich schemes as some of these 3 and 4 decade members.
I don't see anything to be excited about here. Californians are stupid enough to have the next one in the queue just like the last one. Here Comes the Wave as Yet Another Dem Flees the Sinking Ship
Democrats who see the writing on the wall and who have been around in Congress for a while are seeing this as a good time to pack it in.
The latest to retire is five-term Rep. Alan Lowenthal (D-CA). Lowenthal is the 20th Democrat who will be retiring or otherwise moving on at the end of this term. He’s 80 years old and has been serving in political positions since 1992, almost thirty years.

And Biden's troubles start. Trump for now is the least of his worries. Trump is on the sidelines. He's out of office. He's banned from social media. He doesn't figure in the everyday lives of most Americans. He won't be on the ballot this November. A White House midterm strategy based on portraying GOP candidates as Q-Anon shamans ready to storm the Capitol won't work. The hundreds of state and local campaigns will be too diverse. The candidates will be too distinct. And public anger over the economy, the pandemic, the schools, the border, and the cities will matter most of all.

Pelosi Believes House Democrats in ‘Good Shape’ Before Midterms as Droves Are Leaving the House
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said the House Democrats are in “good shape” heading into the midterms and predicted the Democrats would remain in the House majority, despite the 26 congressmen who have announced plans to leave after the current term.
Despite the 26 Democrats who have announced their plans to exit the House of Representatives after the current term, Pelosi, who has also been rumored to be retiring, told Punchbowl News that she does not believe the 26 are a big deal and her caucus will remain in the majority past the midterm elections later this year.
