Could be a 3 seed in CFP?

I love how much these flapping heada get off on finding creative adjectives for our loss. “Thrashing,” “beatdown,” “destruction,” blah blah blah. Jerks.

About right. Expected as much. Just need to take care of business and see how it all shakes out. I expect TCU to lose at least once. I also want OSU to beat Michigan. I think we would be looked upon more favorably vs Michigan than OSU. Just have to see Oregon get another loss. I really don't like the thought of it coming down to us vs Oregon.

Vols handle business, and they’ll eat those words.

Number 5 is fine. Ohio State and Michigan play each other. Win out and we take the place of the loser most likely setting up a rematch against Jawjuh.

The only thing that scares me is our last 3 games are weak and some others have tougher games. We need to beat to hell out of the last 3 on our schedule. Style points

Vols by fiddy. Literally

Hate to burst everyone's bubble but I'm worried to death about not being able to control our own destiny. The CFB PO committee has NEVER taken a P5 non-champion when there is a champion available.
Bama made the playoffs without even playing in the SECCG. So somebody's P5 Champ got left out. If I'm not mistaken they won the Natty that year. Georgia didn't win the SEC title last year. Somebody's P5 Champion got left out again. Georgia also won the title that year.

We still need some things to go our way, TCU losing is major, Oregon I think is our only threat only because them as a Champ and their one loss is the same is ours, I think they will trump us, otherwise I think we are good.

Not true - both UGA and Bama got in last year so they took a UGA over a champion of another conference. Both Auburn and Alabama was selected as well for one year.

There wasn't a champion available with the same or better record. To date, there hasn't been a situation where the committee has had to choose between a power 5 champion and power 5 non-champion with the same record.

USC is a threat. IF they win out they will have beaten #12 UCLA, #20 ND and #6 Oregon in the last 4 weeks to win the Pac 12 with only one loss @ #13 Utah. That would be a hell of a resume.

Yeah it's possible but think we still rate higher due to our wins and loss to #1 versus theirs to #13, our win over LSU looks really good right now.

Yep but their win over Oregon would look better. More worried about the week to week comparison from here on out. They beat ranked UCLA while we beat S Carolina, they beat Notre Dame while we beat Vandy. They beat number 6 Oregon in the PAC 12 Championship while we are sitting at home.

I don't think there is anything to be worried about. Conference title or not we'll stay ahead of them as long as we keep winning. Just handle our business & everything will fall right into place. There is so much football still left to play. For all we know Oregon could lose to Washington, Utah, Oregon St, or the Pac title. That could end up being a rematch with USC. TCU is just now entering the toughest part of their schedule @ Texas & @Baylor. Mich or OSU is gonna have a loss really late in the season so the loser is done. They both still have to get through Illinois & Maryland. Honestly UGA & UT have the clearest paths because they already went through their hurdles. Everybody else still got hurdles left. Relax kick ya feet up and let it play out.

It’s going to be a problem if Ohio St and Michigan play a close game and one only has one loss. There will be a lot of folks stumping for both to get in if that happens.

I think were in a good place but I also think they will screw us if any feasible alternatives are there.

Heck, I've seen Vol fans on these pages basically say the same thing. I will never understand the love for uga. Such a generic, no personality, trash program. It befuddles me greatly.

I know folks are sick of my saying this, but there's not a doubt in my mind that, all things being equal or close enough, the committee will make their selections so as to avoid 2 teams from the SEC making the playoffs. Oregon and TCU MUST lose. Frankly, I don't like USC and UCLA being so high in the playoff rankings either. Guess it's the BVS rearing it's ugly head again.

TCU definitely, I dont think they want two SEC teams either but it is the same with the Big 10, I think loser of Michigan/Ohio State drops below us just based on where we are now and they would have a worse loss.

What happens if Ga loses in the SEC championship game?

Most think it doesn't matter - but they would be a 1 loss team that did not win their conference. So what if all the other 4 conference champions had 1 or less loss? Do they play by those rules or not? So in the situation where you have:

- OSU is the BIG10 champ with 0 losses
- The PAC12 champ has only 1 loss
- TCU only has max 1 loss
- Clemson or NC has only 1 loss

If you follow the rules for one team, you should be consistent with any team in that position. Either strength of schedule is important, or it isn't.

And yes, if I could live with NO SEC team getting in if it meant UGA did not.
