Could we beat.......

but we're not 6-6, and we're not 11-1, and we're 9-3, so I hope we properly prep for the Bowl, whatever one we get

that was my point, lamenting a possible 6-6 record only shows you're focusing on the negatives, when we could have been 11-1 with a couple breaks. Sometimes you get em, sometimes you don't, and I think we'll win our bowl game and build from that for next year.

We have problem areas yes, but I have faith they'll work on those areas for the bowl game and continue in the offseason for a SECCG run next season.

After tonight's ND-USC matchup, I would say absolute no to tOSU, Mich and USC and 50/50 on ND. That's on account of Jarrett DESTROYING Notre Dame's secondary, Meach and Swain could do the same.

After seeing today's play, I would amend my answer on USC to No.

The only reason I say UT might have a chance against Southern Cal is how they both played Cal. Much different times in the season, but nonetheless, the Vols thrashed Cal and Southern Cal didn't score a TD against them until the 4th quarter.

After tonight's game, no to the first 3. ND I think we would win with Ainge, Meach, Swain and Smith exploiting ND's horrible secondary.

Lots of posters have pointed out that we narrowly bested UK. However, ND struggled even more with Michigan State and UCLA, neither of which can claim to be any better than the Wildcats.

UK has a great team by their standards this year, and you have to take that into consideration imho. UK sports a better record than UCLA and Mich. St. If they had a passable Defense this year, they may have been a real cinderella story this year.

I'd wager that UK would beat Mich. St. and UCLA would be a close game since their defense is a smidge better than ours.

Thank you. all these people that wanted to trash my idea that USC would thrash us can go ahead and start their apologies. i'll graciously accept them and move on. not putting this on you GA, just using the quote.

I know their offense is good, but worst defense in D-IA really says something... Especially in a conference like the SEC, without any big time explosive offenses. While their O would win them the game, Kentucky's D would probably get thrashed by the entire Sun Belt.

The SEC has plenty of offensive firepower. Notice how awesome the super offense of Cal looked against an SEC team.

With a healthy team could we beat any of these schools?
1. Ohio St.
2. Michigan
3. USC
4. Notre Dame

Could we? Sure - anything can happen on any given Saturday.

Would we? Here's what I think:
1. Ohio St. - no
2. Michigan - no
3. USC - no
4. Notre Dame - yes

No! The defense we saw Saturday can't stop any of these offenses.

No, no! The offense we saw Saturday can't score enough points against any of these defenses.

Bottom line, NO WAY!

So, the only game we can use as a measuring stick is the Kentucky game? Brilliant...

The Vols could possibly beat ND, however Tennessee is no longer an elite program. They are not a top 5 team no a top 10 team. They are are a top 15 to top 20 Team. Depending on the bowl matchup they might just squeeze into the top 15.
