Regardless of the perception of the program declining over the years, it is kind of hard to justify firing that is just 4 years removed from winning the National Championship (post 2002 season), or after coming off two 10 win seasons. The only time one could really justify firing Fulmer was after last season. However, he did let Sanders take the fall and has done all the right things so far to right the ship. How many years are we gonna keep saying this about Fulmer? It starts at the top, instead he'll get another pay raise, that no matter how bad a year he has there's no way he'll be bought out and then if he was have the money to lure a Top Notch coach. Year after year after year.
So, in Florida's case, the coach gets 'props' for making it to Atlanta. Yet, in Fulmer's case, he must win there for your approval. And by the way, I'm not asking to win the SEC every year, but I am hoping to win it every once in a while! Dang, Urban Meyer's in the SEC 2 yrs, and is already going to Atlanta
I agree with the assessment concerning UM and Tosu, however, I doubt that USC would thrash us if we had Harrell, Inky, and Fellows.to get back to the point of this post only team we would match up against is notre dame. USC would kill us, please people. I don't think the Pac10 is as great as everyone wants it to be, but Southern Cal would thrash us. Mich and Tosu would laugh us off the field in the first quarter.
The premise of this thread was an 'if' question. If you don't want to hypothesize about what might have been, then don't. I could care less. However, I was answering the posed question.if a frog had wings......
injuries don't matter. tennessee's secondary would still be bad, our run D would still be awful, and don't even think about being fooled by today's running game. no way we beat USC. it'd be a close game until they'd put 30 on us in the fourth and wind up blowing us out

Thanks for being up the question of intelligence. Weiss has been at ND for almost two years. He could very well be a better coach than Fulmer. However, he could also wash out over the next three years. Also, since ND is an independent, then what is your measurement for Weiss? BSC bowl games and National Championships?Notre Dame...Not a chance. Our D is still shaky, and the tandem of Quinn and Samardja is too good, and our Secondary is Horrendous....and for therealUT, Weiss is smarter, and a better coach than Fulmer.
No way we beat USC? They beat Cal 23-9, we beat them 35-18. USC also lost to an unranked Oregon State. I'm not saying that we definitely would beat them, but to say that there's no way we win? I don't think so.
