There's no way Ohio State nor Oregon will be dropped below us with a loss in their Championship game.We should be 8th when new rankings come out. Probably need to be sixth to host to account for Boise (bye) and Notre Dame (ranked ahead of us).
We should be able to do that when the SEC championship and Big 10 championship game losers. Good chance one or both could drop behind us.
Not only are we in with a win over vandy — with more games to follow I think the odds we host have gone way up today.
Could possibly also include Ohio St losing championship game. Possibly though they probably wouldn’t drop much losing to Oregon again.Still need ND, UGA, or Penn St to lose for Tennessee to host.

Seeing two 2-loss SEC teams in the SEC Championship game is the only way the loser falls below us, so I'm pulling for A&M to get the upset over Texas next week. Even better than that would be to pair it with a Georgia Tech win... Georgia sure gave up a bunch of rushing yards this week. Could it happen again next week?
Add to the list...
Pull for Syracuse over Miami
Pull for Cal over SMU
(Both of the above to assure the ACC is a 1 bid league)
Pull for USC over Notre Dame
Pull for Maryland over Penn State
Someone answer this for me...
If Clemson beats SCar AND beats SMU in the ACC Championship game (if Miami beats Syracuse, Clemson wont get this opportunity), does the committee let SMU sneak in the back door and give the ACC 2 bids? I don't think so based on recent rankings but it's possible with all the losses from highly ranked teams.
I think the loser of Ore-Ohio St is pretty much guaranteed the five seed. That is as long as they both win their last regular season game next week. The interesting situation will be how far would Texas fall if they lose to UGA in the title game? And yes that’s assuming they beat A&M next week.Could possibly also include Ohio St losing championship game. Possibly though they probably wouldn’t drop much losing to Oregon again.
ND isn’t losing next week. They’ve found a passing game. That would be a bad first round match up for us having to play ND in South Bend.
Most likely ND at 5Yes I know, but the loser of the B10 title game is pretty much guaranteed to be seeded 5-8. Most likely number 5.
I'm more concerned about the snow for a QB raised in California than I am of a passing offense that has passed against a sorry schedule. I definitely think we can lock that down. The elements could be an issue.Could possibly also include Ohio St losing championship game. Possibly though they probably wouldn’t drop much losing to Oregon again.

Not necessarily. I think they would favor Boise State in the new ranking since they’re the highest group of 5. Boise State has a “good loss” on the road @ Oregon by 3. Miami losing to G-Tech and SMU losing to BYU are both worse losses. Will be curious what the committee does. But the ACC champ is likely to get a top four spot and a bye. So Miami’s result doesn’t really impact Tennessee that much.
We need Texas to lose to A&M. We have no path to the SECCG. It will be UGA vs winner of Texas/A&M. If A&M wins, georgia will smoke them and be the #2 seed. A&M is out and we would have a good shot of being ahead of Texas in the final rankings. We need texas to win next week, assuming we win. Sec championship game is no good for us in the grand scheme.
