Country music thread

I sure hope Felker gets his life together. That's sooooooo much more important than a Turnpike reunion, but man am I jones-ing for new Turnpike.
Evangeline is a very underappreciated bit of writing.

Co written with John Fulbright and you can definitely feel it in the song.

Great song.
1968 has stuck with me for some time now. such a powerful song
I try to find more references in it, besides the obvious MLK. Jackie Kennedy seems to be the 'dark haired girl in a Cadillac' as the JFK assassination was kind of the end of the prosperous post WW2 chapter

I know Felker says it’s in reference to the greatness in people, but it is interesting who else he could be thinking about
“And we've all been looking for you
Like a hobo you walk in
Well how the mighty all have fallen
How the holy all have sinned
Is that the clattering of sabers
Or the cool September winds
Well you've been a long time gone
Good to see you my old friend”
this stanza is just so outstanding

It's just a great work, you can see their excellence in the variety of people that go to see them, compared to say Casey Donahew.

Very true. I remember going to see Carbon Leaf in Richmond and there was a sign for Turnpike on the door. About 3/4 of the crowd around us started talking them. And Carbon Leaf isn’t exactly the typical Red Dirt crowd

Really been enjoying Pat's daily videos.
I thought about bringing it up. I’m watching them on Instagram. Aaron Watson is doing a lot too, but it’s hit or miss. Josh Abbott has done some solo live singing as has Tennessee Jet. But they’re all over the place. Pat picks one song, gives a quick fact or two, sings and it’s over. I enjoy them a lot

I get the appeal of Luke combs, but I don’t get the appeal of Morgan wallen at all. I don’t see where everyone gets “90’s country” when they listen to him. Just seems like your average run of the mill pop star to me 🤷‍♂️

So my next duty assignment is... "DA Select Recruiter". F Me. But a friend says he can probably get me into New Braunfels, TX... that's tempting. I was thinking of trying to get as close to home as possible. But to be able to call Gruene Hall my local music venue? Holy crap balls Batman, I'm seriously thinking about it.

Luke is at this best like this. No clue why his producers want to over produce his albums and drown out his actual talent.

Doing the dumb Facebook 10 days 10 albums thing, day 1 was George's Bar, today was Soul Gravy.

Got a pm from a guy from the Aero Rifle Platoon of 11ACR who had never heard of them and had listened based on my post and couldn't believe how good it was. My GF says I'm a music influencer haha. Of course our first "date" was me having a spare to Reckless in JC and looking for someone bored to pawn it off on. Now she's talking a Departed tattoo 😊

Heard this song on Aaron Watson’s Pandora the other day for the first time in a while, and it makes me sad. I miss old tim.

If in their prime anyone who doesn't say #2 hates Country music!
Yup, 1 or 2 is a very great lineup. The only thing that gave one the edge for me is I’ve never Cody Johnson, and honestly Vince gills voice irritates me haha I’ve came around on some of his stuff though.
