Country music thread

Fair enough. I do dislike trying to put labels on everything, it’s just unusual in my mind for an artist to play the Grand Ole Opry, then play with American Aquarium, and then go play at a rodeo. Not really arguing or anything, or even speaking negatively about anything, just thinking out loud I guess.
I quit putting labels as well. Even on the bad stuff. Let em call it what they want, doesn’t hurt me.

BJ's introduction to the Red Dirt Book sums up "Americana". Its not as much a sound but being true to what you are and not being full of ****.

Take Midland, I actually like their sound but they are put on as someone like the Moonpies but they're completely fabricated.

“And that genre, Red Dirt/Texas Country is nationalistic almost. If someone comes up to me and says, “you’re my favorite Red Dirt band, then I go, “Oh you’re from Oklahoma.” And if they say “Americana,” then you’re from Brooklyn. “Texas,” and you’re from Texas.”
quote from BJ. Definitely sums it up pretty well

@volfanbill you were spot on about Lamentations. His eyes were wet, I see his frustration.

Opened with Casualties, St Marys, and Tough folks. Heard him on the REK podcast about the nuances of building a set list and man he does it well.

Encore was the new sad song, Hope he breaks your heart, and Money in the Bank. Was a good set for a Sunday night crowd that wasn't very alcohol fueled (which was a great change from the last few shows I've been to)

I’m not even going to try. I did buy Saturday tickets for Road a trip to Raleigh and now Barham is teasing a big guest
I looked for some today for the Sat show and its sold out. I'm sure I could get some day of but will need to think on it. Having a few of my favorite VN'ers there will be a HUGE selling point to the boss lady !

I’m sure you would need two but, as of right now, I’ve got one extra with your name on it if you can manage to scrounge up the other. I always buy two in the hopes that the wife can join me but knowing that with two kids at home there is probably a good chance I’ll by flying solo. Usually give one away at the door but would love to be able to gift it to someone I know (well, internet know)

Whiffed on Turnpike again, even though we were both in legitimately 3 seconds after waiting room opened.

Me and the boss lady will therefore be participating in the VN Country Music Thread Road Trip to Raleigh.

Resale is about $600 for a pair, we may drive over and find some. The tickets themselves arent AWFUL but the reseller fees are like $90 per ticket pre tax

Also I'm not retarded, my phone autocorrects common words. Annoying.

@volfanbill closed on a home in Telford today, now you can tell me if its one of the best or worst small towns in Tennessee haha.

well, based on the news as of late, if you're near that bitcoin mining plant, it might be awful. if you're closer to Bowmantown, I think it's wonderful out there

Not far from where I grew up at all
I like it. Towns are funny. I moved to Oak Ridge in a jam and lived somewhere where I felt I needed to carry to walk the dog if I worked late. But OR has a good rep overall.

Neighbors seem legit and both vets, if nothing else no less savory than here off of John B in Kingsport
