Country music thread

As for that Morgan Wallen thread in the main forum, sure you can listen to whatever you want to. But, on the flip side, I can call it garbage. You can even call Turnpike, Isbell, RRB, or Pat garbage. I mean you’re wrong, but you can say it.

Honestly, I sorta don’t blame people like Morgan Wallen for the music they put out. It’s an easy formula to follow that will sell quickly to people who never turn the radio dial from the pop country station. People like him still have a family to take care of and people probably depending on him for financial support.

That doesn’t excuse the fact it’s still pop music disguised as country and should be called out as so.

Go get that money if that’s what you want. People will listen in droves. But don’t try to tell me “sand in my boots”, “whiskey glasses” or whatever is music gold. It’s catchy, but bland. I need life moving lyrics.

I kinda dig Bill's explanation of "A better south", we need more volnationals at the next RTTR.

I love when country music sprawls into the main forum since we are kinds snobby.

"She loves her Jason Boland, she gets out on the floor, and YOU KNOW she's front and center, for the Turnpike Troubadours, she'll follow them all around the world, she's a Red Dirt Girl.

Our first date was Reckless, then the weekend before Covid was Boland and next night The Departed.

Boland started "Fences" then stopped dead and said "this is 3/4 time, you waltz not 2 step"
We aren’t kind of snobby. We’re very snobby. Just ask @Dallasbowlin 😂😂😂

And I’m game for a three night stay at RTTR next year

Never going to be confused for being deep or masterful song writing but for some reason this passage in the new Zach Bryan song just makes smile really big while driving around with the windows open.

"And you're smirking like an ass-hole
with a cheek full of tobacco,
in the back of a Bronco
in some town you've never been."

Chris Knight and John R Miller at Lime Kiln in Lexington VA on my birthday. May need to go as it's probably the coolest venue I've ever been to

Happy birthday Merle. Both your earthly birthday and your heavenly birthday. I’ll always love his version of “that’s the way love goes” and so many others. He and Jones were my dad’s favorite (along with Chuck Berry) and are the roots of my country music fandom.
