*prepares to dodge any objects thrown at me*

The Flatland album is better than the new Turnpike.
Disagree. They’re seemingly going for a different sound, at least on this album, and I’m just not crazy about it. And Felker’s lyrics are still better. Brought Me aside (which will be my favorite so of the year but not best), The Rut is a song of the year candidate imo.

And, as always, Flatland is more than free to change their sound, but also as always, I don’t have to be a fan

The sound change was definitely noticeable. It’s not “no shade of green” or “old school” but I still really enjoy it. I see myself going back to the Flatland album more than the Turnpike. Could be recency bias as I have not listened to the Turnpike album in a few weeks.

Also, based on last night’s live version of “life where we work out”, it’s actually based on if they were gym rats, and not actually their relationship succeeding

What’s crazy is the new album I keep going back to is Miss Morgan’s. It’s definitely a more pop sound than I usually like, but the lyrics are just phenomenal

IMG_1529.jpegOne of my closest friends just got back from being stationed in Korea. His parents moved just outside of New Braunfels and between visiting them and en route to his next duty stop, he made his way to Mayberry to catch up with me and give me my new favorite coffee mug

I saw that. Tells me maybe their market is coming back to reality? I love TT, but I just don’t ever think the Red Dirt/Hill country scene is going to ever be that big
It may be selfish of me, but I'd welcome a move back to the clubs and less big rooms.
