Country music thread

I saw Chris at 3 Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeos and 2 Colorado State Fairs, an act that can't be duplicated.

Recently saw George (well, probably a year ago) for the 1st time, great show. Ronnie Milsap stole his thunder in my eyes, but George singing "If It Wasn't For Texas" was awesome.

My favorite Ledoux album is "Radio and Rodeo Hits"

Neither compare to Shotgun Willie in person, though. Done it too many times to count, and hopefully, plenty in the future

the sad thing is, chris ledoux is gone and there's no one else like him.

Very true. From what i see, Strait can work a rope damn well, but he was also famous for music first, and he'll never be a NFR caliber heeler...Once the country realizes that Nashville Pop Country sucks, we might have another...But Rodeo Cowboys are turning a little celebrity as well...the Bull guys, anyhow...

Really? I could've swore I read somewhere that Ledoux wrote it. Thanks for the enlightenment.

it's one of my favorite songs, and while evidently not completely his own, still my favorite George Strait song. I only know because a buddy of mine and myself did some research about the fact that George Strait has written only a handful of songs himself.

George is definately not a Singer/songwriter, but as a SINGER, he is hard to top

I had the pleasure to meet Chris once and he was one of the nicest artists that I have ever met. Down to earth and would talk your ear off.

Loved the ole song "This Cowboys Hat" He sang it acoustically on my show one time, i'll never forget it.

Nothing better than seeing him at Cheyenne, where he cashed his paycheck once upon a time, he held the audience so captive it was amazing.

I saw him at the Colorado State Fair not long after he had his surgery, he seemed to be in good shape. As Cancer will do, i guess, it took him swiftly, but he probably packed a lip and grinned, a COWBOY to the end.

I had better get in on this while I still can, late but still.

Country sucks. My last two girlfriends love country... and look at what I end with? A love for Carrie Underwood and my right hand.

Best Chris Ledoux song ever...Scatter the Ashes...off the album he released after coming out of the cancer surgery, I believe the album is titled After the Storm.

Not alot of mention of Conway on here, he's one of my favorites...I love when i see the clip on RFDTV, where Loretta is standing off to the side of the stage, and she yells "Hey Conway!!! Hello Conway!!!" and the camera pans and Conway lights up...then "Hello, Darlin........."

I dont know too much about the old country stars and music, I know back in the 80's when I would visit my brother in the Burgh I would have to listen to it in his car and I couldn't stand it, I would probably like the old stuff today though. I also like Gary Allen, that guy has been through some hard times.

conway is incredible. My grandmother was a HUGE fan. "I don't know a thing about love" and "that's my job" are my favorites.

Gary Allan is really good volsgal. "Life Ain't Always Beautiful" was a great song, especially after losing his wife like he did. He's definitely underrated in country music these days. He's one of the few that still sings actual country. No way do the Tim McGraws and Kenny Chesney's deserve the awards they get over him.

My buddy plays David Allen Coe all the time, he's got some songs that are not good or nice(race related). but then he's got some that absolutely crack me up(sexual songs)

I love the fact he has hair, and doesn't try to hide behind a cowboy hat. I've always liked him.

Female wise, my vote goes to Sara Evans right now. Love the song "As If" and she was very sweet to my daughter a few weeks ago when we met her and then again when we chatted in Nashville last week before the CMA Awards.

So I guess y'all know that George Jones is playing the Tennessee Theatre in January. Tickets went on sale today.
