Country music thread

Yeah, I don't like the vocals and the effects he seems to use to mask his voice. Don't really care for the subject matter either.

I think ideologically, in the "real country" realm, I lean more toward the folk side than the outlaw side. I guess that's why guys like Wall, Jinks, Morgan, etc. don't do it for me.
Let me say, colter uses no effects whatsoever. When he talks he sounds almost just like when he sings.

That's correct. I get Colter not being for everyone (I think he is amazing) but that sound is nothing but him. Live versions of his songs sound almost exactly like the album versions.

Interesting. I thought for sure it was something they were doing in production or the type of microphone he uses. It kinda reminds me of Seether or something.

Nope. 100% genuine. Very humble guy too. Did a whole hour and half show with a 101 fever and the flu.

Yep. Sucks that he and the speedy creek band parted ways. Anna was a perfect compliment to him

Love the song. It's so funny - this song was Stapleton's first attempt to go solo/mainstream and he didn't pick up any traction. Now he's the biggest name in country music.

Ironically, it’s my favorite Stapleton song. Haven’t listened to all of From a Room 2 yet, but what I have listened to is as disappointing as 1.

Anyone have any recommendations for old-timey country? I like the older stuff like The Carter Family, Bob Wills, Hank Snow, Ernest Tubb, Hank Williams, Jim Reeves, early Johnny Cash, etc

Anyone have anymore suggestions pre-60s? I like that old time gospel stuff but really like any early country/folk, including the Louvin bros.

Any suggestions are welcome

Yeah, I was fairly disappointed by Stapleton this year. I think if you take the best 12 songs from the two albums you might have something 75% as good as Traveller.

Courtney Patton, maybe my favorite female artist, has a new one coming out in 2018. A song was released on saving country music.
