Country music thread

Thanks for being a smart ass. I knew the opening act was instrumental, thus the question. If he didn’t, then I had the wrong guy.

I looked up three of his songs and they were all instrumental. So it appears he’s all instrumental. Even sent a link of a song. Not to sure how that qualifies me as a smart a**

Fair enough. I guess you were being genuine and I misunderstood

No worries. I missed my chance to see Isbell last year thanks to army training. Amanda Shires (his wife) and a couple others opened some shows for him, but I know they’re not instrumental so I looked the guy up. Did the song I linked sound familiar?

Yeah, he’s the right one. Thanks

Amen. My students get an intro to alt country in my class every semester. We listen to Isbell, Chris Knight, Ryan Bingham, Whiskeytown, Turnpike Troubadours, Lucero, etc

Add Sturgill, Tyler Childers, Stapleton, and even Scott Miller for some hometown goodness.

Tyler Childers is legit. Hard Times is probably my favorite song from him.

All Tyler Childers praise is more than welcome in any thread I frequent but I’d argue that Feathered Indians should be everyone’s favorite (although Hard Times is definitely badass).

Me and the wife seen Joe Diffie, Mark Chestnut and David Lee Murphy this Saturday in Terre Haute,IN....awesome show! All three was on stage at same time taking turns playing their hits and sharing stories. Great night of REAL country music!

I get "Feathered Indians" stuck in my head for days at a time.

Note to 8188: a few Childers songs are not safe for the classroom either (including that one); preview first.

Lol yeah I noticed that on that one and the one where he talks about his dad mining Pike county coal. But yeah, I previewed them before hand. Great stuff though.

Nice. Heading to Manhattan in the morning for a weekend in the city framed around Pat/Eli Young/Casey Donahew/Wade Bowen Friday.

Look forward to seeing Aaron Watson in a few months

Song list could be a lot better but I like the idea.

Cory Morrow should be able to just nail Adios Days. He's kind of faded to the back a bit but in his day was right up there with Pat in stature.

So I think Pat is sick. Worse than that, there’s some nasty reverb they just can’t fix. Pat is still king though. He’s absolutely hilarious.
