One of the foresights we had in our business was that the $15 minimum wage Virginia has mandated would kill our local economy and our business. Nobody around here in the skillsets we needed to operate a retail environment is worth $15/hour. Literally nobody. And the market here is poor- the '1%' of this area are financially illiterate morons and they're poor too.

$15/hour doesn't make a lick of sense for most of America. We would have ended up in a situation where instead of employing a few people at $9/hour in varying shifts that scaled with our demand, we'd employ zero.

Thing is the idiots pushing it dont realize full time jobs will become part time jobs - thus no health insurance needs to be offered then - burger flippers think they are getting a great deal, lol wait til they are only scheduled to work during the lunch and dinner rush maybe 3 or 4 at the most, hours a day

And part-time jobs will become nonexistent jobs. We decided to pivot into something that made more sense and keeps more with us for the work we do. Many businesses will decide to do the same, or go down with the ship when they raise prices and the inelastic market doesn't buy anymore.

If a business relies on remaining profitable by paying non-livable wages, then they don’t need to be open.
