LMFAO the business should only pay the going rate for the skill set required. If a business relies on remaining profitable by paying non-livable wages, then they don’t need to be open.
One of the foresights we had in our business was that the $15 minimum wage Virginia has mandated would kill our local economy and our business. Nobody around here in the skillsets we needed to operate a retail environment is worth $15/hour. Literally nobody. And the market here is poor- the '1%' of this area are financially illiterate morons and they're poor too.
$15/hour doesn't make a lick of sense for most of America. We would have ended up in a situation where instead of employing a few people at $9/hour in varying shifts that scaled with our demand, we'd employ zero.
billions for incompetent blue states like Illinois where the scumbag Governor screwed up the whole covid lockdown fiasco -- Pritzker already said proudly Illinois wont have a tax increase because of this bail out bill -- Fat trash should be impeached like Newsome is going to beThat's what I heard on CNBC I think... No matter what's in it, it's hot garbage.
When 1 out of 3 people will get fired for the government setting a minimum wage so high that small business owners can't pay it then that is what will happen. You know, because the government knows how to create jobs and living wages off of earnings.Otherwise, just forgo the job and get on welfare, right?
I’m willing to concede that I think $15 is too high in large swaths of the country, and maybe not enough in others. $7.25 is also too low and has been for quite some time. This is what happens when legislators can’t work together to solve a problem consistently. You get wild swings when the power balance tips the other way. When 1 out of 3 people will get fired for the government setting a minimum wage so high that small business owners can't pay it then that is what will happen. Republicans have played the part of obstructionists on minimum wage for too long. Now, democrats overreact and overcompensate now that they have the numbers.
How about we just let the market dictate wages and not the federal government? Teenagers don't need or deserve a $15 minimum wage and dumb people that are 28 and punching out kids don't either.I’m willing to concede that I think $15 is too high in large swaths of the country, and maybe not enough in others. $7.25 is also too low and has been for quite some time.
