COVID Relief Package

Both Trump and Biden are tax and spend sh*t heads; different sides of the same socialist coin.

Say it with me, I know you can do it.

I'm talking parties here, not individuals. If you want to call Trump a tax and spend sh*thead you'll get no argument from me

So rather than have these same old arguments; who is in favor of this 1.9 trillion plan?

As I said, I'd like to see more precisely where the money would go.

As a general rule, I am not a fan of sending out stimulus checks to people who have not lost jobs or significant income. So if you made similar to what you made in '19 i would not send out stimulus check. But restaurant, hotel, travel, public services that got shut down, etc., yes. I'm not sure how you can test that in advance, though.

I do think the states need $ to pay for services and facilities for dealing with the pandemic, including testing and now vaccination sites.

The GOP put up no resistance to Trump's spending. You don't get to claim to be fiscally conservative if you go along with a spendthrift's plans just because you are afraid of his ire if you don't.

OK read up on it and get back with us. Until you do, you're not educated enough to comment. I'm against it for all kinds of reasons.

1) We haven't spent the last stimulus yet
2) I'm against a national min wage of $15/hr, especially in a stimulus bill
3) Millionaires like my 91 yr old mother in law should not be getting a check for $1400

The stimulus I'd like to see is opening up the economy and putting people back to work

When you have an opinion, check back.

Why does that matter? Spending is spending

The gop always pretends to be fiscally conservative when a Dem is in office

The Dems are never against spending. Like I said, the GOP is the lesser of two evils when it comes to fiscal issues

No they only want to pretend. The data shows the opposite. At least the dems are up front with wanting to steal your kids future

That's too easy. Just because some businesses for example have not received additional PPP does not mean that there aren't individuals who legitimately need assistance due to the pandemic.

I agree with you there but was not aware they put the minimum wage into that bill. I just checked and from what I see that was taken out three days ago.

I agree.

I agree. That's why I want more detail on where the money would go. I'm not unreasonable. I realize its not going to be as precise as it could be. There have to be some general contours to it but you can't go person by person. So it will not be as efficient as we'd all like. Don't hold it to an impossible standard and cry foul when it can't live up to that standard.

Perhaps. When you have to battle dolts like Newsome and Cuomo, it doesn't help. Seems I read something about unused hospital ships and temporary hospitals in NY. Yet the case/death rate there...

But yeah... Trump's fault.
Yes Trumps fault. No matter how often he says "i dont take responsibility at all".

That was his 4th year in office, he knew who he was dealing with. Hes not responsible for the crisis itself, he is responsible for his own reactions to it, and as head of the federal government their response to it. Cuomo can mess up the worst and Trump still have plenty of blame.

They were against Trumps spending on the wall. No one cares about the money, it's all just politics.

Other than presentation what else could he have done?
Come up with a plan and distribute it to the states. If they dont listen it's not on Trump.

And part of that presentation issue is fighting the Dems instead of working with them to come up with or execute a plan. He is the leader it's his job to rise above the "presentation" issues in a time of crisis, even if no one else does. Maybe especially if no one else does.

They came up with a pretty good plan to distribute it to states. I don't see any articles about states not getting the vaccine.

While my wife lost her part time job - she's not going back to work, and I was furloughed for 2 weeks we didn't miss the income. I understand that 1/2 the lower income job losses still haven't come back, but I see several local companies advertising for $15 per hour jobs along with trade apprentices.
Shouldn't these packages be addressing people getting back to work rather than just creating more national debt?

If they were serious about make this would have been done a year ago. We also need access to home testing so people can make an educated decision on whether to expose others. They cost $1-5 and could easily be produced and used. Of course no one is pushing these either

You know it would be the anal swab.
