CP - Olympics conspiracy theory

This is not a thread that I would normally spend much time on but the ugly fact of this thread is that it adds one more reason to choose a different team. Not good.

So recruits aren't going to come here because the fans are upset that one of their players, who is arguably the best in the world, wasn't chosen for the Olympic team because of the coach's personal bias? How does that make sense?

It's the bitter response to the situation that is off-putting. Questioning the decision is fine and expected but the flinging of feces doesn't help convince prospective recruits that the LV fanbase offers a rational, reasonable, sane home.

I find that comical!! We've been among the top for attendance for YEARS! We have an AWESOME and knowledgeable fan base. Recruits know that a small fraction of people on a damn Internet board doesn't represent the Lady Vol fan base as a whole, and honestly I wouldn't want a recruit that damn dumb to take what people say on a message board serious at all. All they should be concerned about is choosing the right school for an education as well as a pleasant basketball experience.

Must be a UCONN troll! :-/ we seem to be reeling them in as of late!!!

It's just a new uconn troll joining forces with an old one, Jeff. Don't try to understand them; you could never stoop low enough to even begin. Wish gule could send them all back to their dog pound.

You got that right. For the life of me I cannot understand why people participate in discussions that they claim doesn't interest them and bothers them. Go figure.

I believe the year was 1979, when coach Herb Brooks was given the reigns of the US Hockey team. His quick personnel choices for that team would have melted the internet were it around at the time. And then ...

Patently false and the damage that this sort of irrational thinking does to the LVC brand is substantial in that prospective recruits doing their research on the schools also look at the fanbase.

So you are trying to sell the notion that there's never been friction between Geno and anybody else. Good luck with that one. I think I'll get some popcorn and a cold drink and sit back and watch you try to do that.

You may want to consider moving into the present. LV past is glorious. Top recruits. A premier coaching staff. But then we don't actually live in the past, do we? Our recent efforts have not been the stuff of glory, have they? We live in a digital age when people, especially young people, do their research online in many places, including places like this.

It is ridiculous for you to even argue with me about attempting to portray the LV home in it's best light. In essence, you are saying that you/we/anyfan can type all the ugly bitterness that can be mustered into our keyboards and recruits be damned. Not a good look for LV fans.

Unless you are a prospective recruit, you don't really know what they might be thinking.

And a Lady Vol fanbase that defends perhaps the best female basketball player of all time by voicing its disagreement over her exclusion from the Olympic team is no more "insane" than it is for a Connecticut fan to stalk a "Vol" message board and pretend to know everything.

And playing the "flinging of feces" card is reaching a bit.

You know what really hurts recruiting? When a player who dreams of playing for the Olympic team knows she has to go to a particular school to be assured of a roster spot....

Hey jimson, what's your situation? Are you 14 years old and still in middle school, 30 something and living in your parents basement, or unemployed with a lot of time on your hands to participate in a conversation you normally would not participate in?

Defending is good. Crazy obtuse ignorant bitterness is not good. Pretty simple equation. The few are tainting the many.

Making accusations of CT trolling about anyone who sees the issues differently than you do may play well in some circles but it is nothing but a circular firing squad and we all know how those work out.

Evidently, you missed the LVs that have made the Olympic teams coached by Geno. The dreams are still alive.

Pretending that you can read the minds of teenage high school girls who play ball is a psychological illness.

Accusing Lady Vol fans of out of control behavior and irrational support of a deserving athlete's omission from the Olympic team shows poor decision making on your part.

You have ventured into orange waters here, and that's not what the motto "Onward and upward!" intends.

You are desperate and are apparently suffering from an emptiness that your loyalty to your fanhood can't supply. That brings you here snooping and picking fights.

Now turn around and and go back.

The 2012 team had Lindsay Whalen, Simone Augustus Angel McCoutry Tamika Catchings, Sylvia Fowles, and Candace Parker on it. He seemed to be fine with players that chose schools other than UC.

Except he snubbed Kara Lawson who had shown up his player in the previous Olympics. From the games I saw, he was fine with players that chose other schools as long as they stayed on the bench.

Keeping this nonsense up is doing nothing but making the LV Fan look bitter and small-minded. Is that really the image that you want to portray to prospective recruits?

We ARE bitter. There's a coach out there that has long been playing by a different set of rules than everybody else, and he continues to profit from it.
But tell your guy we said "hey."

Or they could see that since Parker graduated not one former Tenn player has made an Olympic squad. It would be up to them to decide why. Is it Geno's being vindictive? Or will they look at the WNBA stat leaders and see many former UConn players listed prominently and conclude that they earned their spots on the team?

The answer to your question: No, they are going to continue to call it what it is: potential vindictiveness and obvious nepotism.

This is exactly the kind of tinfoil hat nonsense that I was posting about. Not an attractive look and completely counterproductive. Certainly does say "Welcome recruits"

If you are a fan of such a glorious, world-class women's college basketball team, then why are you in our yard barking?

Why are you so invested in Lady Vol recruiting? Wouldn't our perceived "sabotage" benefit your program?

What is your agenda? What are you wanting here?

This board can't inject class into your coach. He has to summon that up from within.

And it ain't happenin'.

You keep suggesting that Geno is my coach... you may want to reconsider that.

What I get is good basketball. Maybe that doesn't matter much to you but I enjoy it.

I'm fine with Geno not putting CP on the team. Having said that he needs to come out and own his reasons why and not hide behind the committee. Anybody with any women's basketball acumen can see what is happening here.

No one is talking about recruits in this thread except you. So why would it mean anything to them?

I think they've made a mistake. But once made we move on.

My guess is that the coaching staff didn't see eye-to-eye with CP on how they want to get things done as a unit in practice and team events. Simple as that.

No grand conspiracy or anything like that. I think it was a huge mistake, but the embarrassment of USA talent riches allowed them to leave her off, most likely without suffering any consequences.

Now, Jeff, the truth matters. Be honest. You're no newbie.

You've posted on the Summitt, the Boneyard and the old espn boards. Same prickly Jeff. Still easy to get you heated up hotter than a whore house on nickel night. Some folks never change.

So what was your handle on ESPN?
