Crime Ridden Memphis

Have yall seen any of the recent articles regarding the large peer reviewed study (combination of many other clinical trials etc) which summarily concludes that SSRI drugs commonly known and prescribed 400% more than even in the 1980s DO NOT have any effect reducing depression? This includes prozac, zoloft, effexor, Paxil, all the commonly prescribed antidepressants. As of 2012, 11% of Americans aged 12 and over were on these drugs. Thats 1 in 9 people. There are also the clinical trials conducted by the manufacturers themselves which also showed little or no effect on reducing depression...prior to ever getting FDA approval or the massive marketing campaigns to doctors and patients alike.

It turns out that serotonin and depression do not have a causal relationship...so all these drugs folks have been taking to boost the serotonin levels in their brains, along with their side effects to include suicidal ideation, violence against others etc, were simply a new revenue stream for Big Pharma. Billion dollar pharmaceutical companies strike again. As someone who has struggled with depression, and has taken SSRI meds previously for years , all they did for me was make me numb. Never felt much of anything. Highs nor lows, which is a known side effect called "detachment"...and the reason that i quit taking them. A serious % of mass shooters have been on those SSRI drugs though, especially the teenagers. The studies linked above reference them. Looks like Big Pharm and their lobbyists have caused serious harm to this country yet again, with help from the FDA and politicians. Who knew?

Ever seen that streaming series “Dopesick”? That one is an eye opener about Big Pharma and OxyContin. Highly recommend it.

I wouldn’t dream of telling you or anyone outside my household what to do. You do you. (Guessing you’ve never spent much time here though. Not 45 years like I have.) The good news is my wife was born here and knows what has happened to the city so she is very careful in where she goes and when. Past that, I can only suggest that people be careful or you’ll end up a statistic.

Im from Atlanta and stupidly consider myself an expert at finding places without GPS or modern technology. I map the trip to Tunica all the way to the front door of the casino.

5 prior arrests? Does he have like a punch card and gets a free sub now?

I really don't think that anyone with a rational mind would agree that she was being judicious by running at 4 AM. At 6 AM there is probably enough traffic and certainly by 7 AM there is enough traffic and people around that this wouldn't have happened. I live in a safe neighborhood and I wouldn't walk around it at 4 AM without a pistol in my pocket.
You can't blame the victim! You don't know her schedule. If one of your loved ones got hit by a Drunk driver should we say your loved one shouldn't have been driving?

Drugging many of them. Anti depressants and pain killers have the ability to turn people into psycho killers. All or nearly all mass shooters had some kind of prescription for one of these.
Before he was 18 he was charged with rapping a male and alot more .Then he does it again as a adult was in jail 20 years this person is messed up in the head no one to blame but himself and there is no fixing him he needs to be executed. They should let the husband kill him how ever he chooses.

Yep, what do you do with a mad dog? You put him down.

I mow the grass like that.. it’s hardly scintillating 😂 but to a sex pervert, like this dude was, 🤷‍♀️ idk.. but I do see 20 somethings with cutoffs with their butt cheeks hanging out at the grocery store and I think ‘girrll, put that butt cheek away’ lol
You mow the grass? Holy 💩!…… my wife has never even touched a mower….. you married? Busy Saturday?…

Not to be that person, but the national attention that Memphis is getting right now is probably a good thing in that people in Shelby County are going to have to address it.. since crime happens there all of the time, I bet it will stay in the forefront for a minute (It is truly awful and horrible that all of these attacks have happened.. but Memphis could be a precursor of what is to come in most major cities if something is not done).. and it doesn’t require a gun to commit an assault or murder (and if there was one involved, it was no doubt illegally acquired).. I know I had to clear background to get mine..
Give it a few days, no one will be talking about Memphis

Big pharma has become a cop out for people not dealing with their own issues properly.
I don’t think it’s coincidence that we’ve seen a steady increase of psychopathic behavior along with an increase in antidepressant medication. You have to be completely detached from reality to walk into a place and just start shooting random people.

When I was in the USAF I smoked. I wanted to quit and the Air Force "smoking cessation" class led to a prescription of some sort of anti depressive because the side effects were people tended to quit smoking. I remember when they gave me that I thought to myself "I'm not depressed why would I take this"? So I quit cold turkey. 18 years later, still no smoking, still prescription free.

Same here. I can still taste a good Marlboro Light to this day!

Mom of murdered heiress Eliza Fletcher Breaks Down At Her Funeral: Mother-of-two is remembered as someone who 'walked and Modeled the Christian life' at Memphis church where she married her husband

Family and friends and members of the Memphis community gathered on Saturday morning to bid farewell to Tennessee teacher and billionaire heiress Eliza Fletcher, who was kidnapped and murdered during her early morning jog last week.

The funeral service was held at the Second Presbyterian Church, in Memphis, where Fletcher first met her husband of eight years, Richard, and where they also married.

Outside the funeral home, Fletcher's mother, Lucy, could be seen sobbing and hugging family and friends offering their condolences to her and Richard, who was accompanied by one of his young sons.

Convicted Felon who 'murdered heiress Eliza Fletcher' is charged with Kidnapping and Rape of ANOTHER woman in new Unrelated Case

Police have charged the man accused of the kidnapping and murder of billionaire heiress Eliza Fletcher in another unrelated kidnapping that took place a year prior, according to court records released on Friday.

Cleotha Abston, 38, was handed down a second indictment during a Thursday hearing that saw a judge deny him bail for his prospective part in Fletcher's death. The new charges appeared in the Shelby County criminal justice portal the next day.

Abston was arrested on Tuesday - less than a day after detectives found Fletcher's body - but was rebooked on Friday on new charges of aggravated rape, especially aggravated kidnapping and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

Police say the unrelated abduction occurred in 2021 and saw the suspect rape a woman.

Memphis police confirmed the new charges Saturday, without providing any additional information on the 2021 case in question - other than confirmation that the new counts aren’t tied to the Fletcher case.

Abston has been known to law enforcement since he was 11-years-old.

He was detained 16 times from October 1995 to May 2000 for rape, aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon.
