MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Shelby County’s new bail reform program officially debuts in less than a month.

It’s designed to reduce the jail population and give those without financial means a fair shake in the criminal justice system. But the transition to a new way of doing business doesn’t come without controversy or concern.

It’s designed to reduce the jail population and give those without financial means a fair shake in the criminal justice system. But the transition to a new way of doing business doesn’t come without controversy or concern.

Shelby County is reforming its bail system, letting more defendants out of jail after their arrest, in order to ensure equity and have less disruption to the lives of the accused. Critics worry the move will jeopardize safety and further traumatize crime victims.

Her 2017 Hyundai was swiped on Jan. 16. Eight teenagers were arrested in the case: three 13-year-olds, two 15-year-olds, a 16-year-old, 17-year-old and 18-year-old David Stockard, who was also charged with having a stolen gun.

All of the suspects were released 24 hours later, no bond required.

”It’s just unbelievable,” Phillips said. “And that’s frustrating because, you know, they’re just going to do it again.”

Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy said the county’s new bail system will bring equity and equality to the justice system.

This is part of the Soros plan, and it’s working. Destroy a few cities at a time with the lawlessness and then move on to new ones.

It’s the exact same around here in City of Durham. People say it’s not a violent crime, but the results are tied to violence and murder. It’s all gang related. They get the young kids who want to have a higher profile in the gang, like this story in Memphis, to go out and steal cars and drop them on a bad side of town. They watch the cars for a couple days, then they go back, deliver them to the higher level guys in the gangs and then they take them to perform drive bys, robberies, drug deals etc. THe cops know exactly who is doing it. They know exactly where the kids live, where the car keys are of the stolen vehicles, but there’s no point in making the arrest bc the Durham DA is not going to prosecute them. She doesn’t see that as a violent crime . This is the same person that won’t do anything about the kids riding their dirt bikes and 4 wheelers through downtown w/out helmets like it’s a damn DMX video. It clogs up traffic and creates accidents and the cops are not allowed to chase them.

Take out Shelby County and Tennessee among the lowest, even with Davidson & Hamilton (both crime infested) included.

Even at that, a measure that has Alaska, New Mexico, and Tennessee as the top three states for the highest crime rate is using a very flawed basis. You can prove virtually anything with statistics, and it seems not many people have the wisdom, judgment, and honesty to do statistical analyses meaningfully these days (if ever).

Aint that the truth..just like Joe's job creation reports as a latest example. One can make anything look good or bad.
