Crime Ridden Memphis

The state wants Memphis to just disappear.

The city just can’t take the hint.

The State wants all the money and jobs from Fed Ex, IP, etc. In return, the state wants to hold those taxpayers to a different set of rules, not do road maintenance, not hold up their end of the deal on infrastructure projects, give preference to other areas of the state, etc....

I'm not saying the local govt in Memphis isn't incompetent (they are for sure) but the rest of the state is starting the game up by 2TDs in comparison

Don't see that happening anytime soon. Do think you will see the super high sales tax rate broadened to an even wider base. You'll see local property tax rates continue to increase, and likely some gas tax increase to cover the deferred road maintenance in Shelby County (that may be delayed some due to the infrastructure bill from Biden)

idiot democrats wont change it either -- the last GOP governor tried but the senate and house were dem controlled so nothing got done

Spouse worked on a couple of large economic projects up there when Rauner was governor. He had several in his own party turn on him and now, its a totally business unfriendly climate with the subsequent administration.

I know I’ve been there before the year we beat Florida and nothing was weird. I don’t know who the hair guy is lol. That’s why I posted this. Beale Street is generally alright if it’s in the daytime. I was surprised how sketchy things were and how rude the restaurant workers were. My feelings weren’t hurt I can give it as good as they can, was just surprised how it seemed to have gone down hill since I’d last been
Well that’s certainly disappointing. They were historically a very friendly bunch there.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis police are looking for a group of burglars who stole around $100,000 worth of items from a streetwear store during a smash and grab early Tuesday morning.

Nate Packard who is one of the owners of ‘Bad Timing‘ said the store’s alarm alerted him at around 2 a.m. after the crooks broke out a window in their front doors.

The burglary was all caught on camera and showed the thieves pulling off the heist in less than seven minutes.

“It was definitely organized. They knew what they were doing,” said Packard. “It was like nine people total. They all came in and went straight to the money racks.”

He said the burgers cleaned out two racks that contained one-of-a-kind, vintage designer streetwear.

“So, you are talking about nothing under $200,” said Packard. “The shirts are anywhere from $200-$1,000.”

A place is considered a ghetto due to the people living in it, not the physical location itself.

Why do you think there is a term regentrification?

We can discuss the cause and how to fix it but at the end of the day the only difference between a high crime area and a low crime area is the local population that populates it.

And now in the far southwest corner of Tennessee in that little patch of paradise known as Shelby County, we are relegated to PSA’s begging us not to act like homocidal animals.

Probably some lucrative federal funds in such nonsense.

Good grief. What's next, a PSA about the hazards of peeing on an electric fence?
