Criticism of trump over Puerto Rico.

It’s a ridiculously poor area because of the people there. I mean ridiculously poor. Crime is very high. You’ve clearly never ventured anywhere not nice.

For America it’s total crap. No arguing that.

Guam (Yes, much smaller) has many third world looking areas and I like it a lot better than PR. But then again I do like my Asians.

Americans are suffering. I’ve had one day off in the last 35. I’m working 12’s and ensuring those people get what they need. It doesn’t change the fact that PR is crap.

PS, there’s a good chance I’ll be there in a few days on that end. You may enjoy that for I’ll probably not be on here. 50/50 right now.

Mainland liberal Americans have little to no concept of this reality. Again..reality..its their enemy.

Like I stated before there are three jobs in PR..government, tourism, welfare. Facts any non fringe PR will readily admit to.

You're both morons then. They are American's irrespective of your personal opinions about your arbitrary vision of what PR should "look" like.

American's are suffering. "Dude, it's PR" is a lowrent response but one that's not completely unexpected.

So PR is not getting any help from the government? Trump hasnt sent any help in the form of national guard, food, medicine, fuel and other supplies? There arent tons of containers full just waiting to be distributed?

I'm still not following what it being poor has to do with it being undeserving as 79 implied.

Its because their leadership, like many turd world countries, takes cash from the USA and through their corruption spreads it out among the "elite". They dont use it to take care of education, infrastructure, the economy, none of that.

PR suffers from decades of corrupt welfare queen rule.

Technically yes. But like I said before, not many have been to PR outside of the tourist areas..if you had..you would know your statement is severely flawed. If you understood the culture, the mindsets, the corruption, you'd probably have a better understanding of Puerto Rico.

Let me make it simple for you. You think they are Americans. They don't think they are Americans. You want to help them because they are Americans. They despise you because you are American. See the trend?

And if we want to get political yes, PR would be democrat. PR would also be the poorest state if in the union with an average income of under $20,000. They would make Mississippi look like an all inclusive resort.

Technically, I'm aware - that's why I said it.

Still, your true colors are shining bright - they're poor and they'd vote democrat - so "dude, it's just Puerto Rico."

I got you fam. F everyone who doesn't politically align with you, right? Who cares if 3.5 million are suffering?

Absolutely.

It’s the ONLY place in the US I’ve been TDY for routine duty where we actually had a strict curfew (I know) to be back at the hotel. Wtf

No one said that, catch up or stop talking.

Do you ever get tired of your view of life from 5 feet?

You've still yet to connect these "truths" with why you implied that PR is unworthy of assistance.

So far all you've done is qualify why the American's aren't really what you consider an American.

When the hurricane hit we had a big meeting among various government agencies who were willing to lend a hand to PR. I questioned why PR was so unprepared (just like Miami.. and thats another story) and I got every excuse under the sun. Funding. Lack of education. Dont speak English. Its an island. Lunar eclipse changed wave patterns (no sh!t..)..They didn't like the Gringo calling them out on their stupidity.

Being poor a problem? Yeah, means you are probably not smart. Being democrat a problem? Well, they can't vote so not really but they are dirt poor and their is correlation between being poor and voting democrat so you could put two and two together and get four but..mostly its their culture and addiction to poverty that is to blame.

Sweet Ghost of Stonewall Jackson.

I didn't say they weren't worthy of assistance..

I eluded to the fact that they will be ok because they live in squalor already. They dont have real roads. Many dont even have electricity. Many just use propane/gas..no A/C..etc..etc..

You dont understand the islands culture. I saw videos of military people cutting trees to clear their dirt roads. When trees fell here local citizens took to the streets to clear the roads. To quote the Damon Brothers "MESSAGE!".

So citizens should suffer because of shtty leaders?

Good god man, the U.S. is screwed. Your complete lack of empathy and compassion for people irrespective of nationality or bank balance is astonishing. Try as you might to rationalize your comment to not appear looking like a giant douche, it's not working.

You absolutely implied that they were undeserving and you continue to lay out shtty arguments to support it.

I've spent plenty of time in the Caribbean and would argue the Bahamians are unquestionably the laziest people on the planet. But THEY are ok with that, the difference is that you're imposing your arbitrary values of "worth" and due to your expectations you have determined that the PRicans are undeserving of assistance. Just own up to what you meant.

Meh. I have no empathy for dumb ass people. I do have compassion hence why I help to load 3 big ass military aircraft to get stuff to these dotards.

Should people suffer because of their leaders? Of course not. But again you do NOT understand the island. This isn't something that is cut and dry. Imagine Fort Meyers is one huge trailer part on welfare. The coastal areas have some hotels and attract tourists. But everywhere else people make a conscious decision to not find employment because living in their trailer and getting food stamps is "easier". Imagine a place where when offered a job that pays well the locals turn it down because getting high and getting government money is so much easier. Now grab a pencil and paper. Close your eyes. Think of these things and let your hand free draw. Now open your eyes. Guess what? You wrote Puerto Rico.

Sweet Jesus.

My coworker is a Rican from the island, the center. He even said that it isn't a big deal because outside of the tourist areas most people are used to not having power, running water, roads...etc..etc.

You seem to confuse my expectations with yours. My expectations are the PR's will be just fine. Yours seem to be if we don't get them paper towels and negros frijoles they will perish within weeks..

Trump is the biggest a-hole and moron in the history of American politics. He has an amazing knack for saying inappropriate, stupid things--and just generally making a fool of himself. Puerto Rico, an American territory with American citizens, gets destroyed by a monster hurricane--and the first thing Trump does is start criticizing the island and attacking the island's premier. Who DOES that when people have no food, no water, no electricity....besides Trump?

He then goes down there and says, and I paraphrase a bit but this is accurate: "Wow, only 13 dead--that's nothing. Hurricane Katrina was much worse," as if that's supposed to make people who have been without food, water and power for a week feel better! He then notes that American hurricane aid to Puerto Rico "is busting our budget." Trump doesn't have an empathetic bone in his body.
Oh, and let's not forget the president throwing out paper towels to people at some sort of community center--as if that's going to help them!

He's practically beyond description.

Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker made clear today that he's not fan of Trump, saying that the generals functioning as chief of staff, National Security Adviser and Sec. of Defense have kept the administration--and the country---from falling into chaos. He's right, of course. Bob Corker just told the world what he really thinks of Donald Trump - CNNPolitics

I've been to PR several times. Been to resorts and remote areas alike. Negotiated with them. That being said, you do know about the 33 million dollar bond debt Trump had with them when he tried and failed to build a golf resort there a few years ago. When his venture failed, he filed BR and avoided having to repay the 33 million he got from them. Yes, your ass-clown POTUS stuck them with 33 million

I get why people voted against Hillary, but it takes a real idiot to openly support our clown of a president. He's the dumbed down American POTUS. Thanks for your contribution

From the AP’s Fake News Roundup

NOT REAL: Trump defaulted on payments for his Puerto Rico golf course, leaving the territory with a $33 million tax debt

THE FACTS: The Trump International Golf Club in Puerto Rico had the president’s name on it, but he never owned the facility, despite the claims of several outlets. The Coco Beach Golf & Country Club was rebranded with President Donald Trump’s name when the club licensed it in 2008. It defaulted on a municipal bond payment in 2015 and filed for bankruptcy the same year under its original name. A Trump company is listed as one of the club’s creditors in the filing.

Sad!

"People" don't make a place poor, pre-existing circumstances and government make a place poor.

We are part of the problem. We require that boats port to the US before they go to PR, which is a huge expense for a small island that has to import most things.
