Crompton makes Teblow & Stafford look like children

I haven't really seen Mustain enough to offer an opinion . . . but among Crompton, Stafford and Tebow - Crompton is the only one so far who we've actually seen manage a game halfway effectively. Tebow really hasn't had the chance yet, and Stafford is throwing INTs the way most people eat popcorn.

I'd agree with that assessment.

It does help a little that JC is a redshirt.

To be honest, despite all the hype to the contrary, Tebow seems the least proven to me so far as running the game as a true QB.

I hate to ask this, but I was at work during the game because we just had to have a one day sale..aka a bunch of bull@#$%. So I was wondering if any of you knew anywhere I could get a view of crompton scrambling. I only got to see the high lights from utsports.com and I am dying to see him run the ball

Well, I've seen enough of him for a while. And please be assured that the Arkansas fans up where I live think they have this week's game in the bag to the tune of 2-3 scores if Crompton plays.
I think it's the right move with Ainge limping and told them this kid's no slouch, but they figure to run you into the ground.
My only reply was Tennessee is better than you think and they play with heart. And you only had to cover Sidney Rice last week - Tennessee has three of those guys.

Thank you for that. :hi:

One of the most impressive things I saw Crompton do was when LSU had one of our screens covered, and instead of forcing it in there to Anderson, he threw it in the dirt. Some freshmen would force that ball in there, maybe get it intercepted.

I saw that play as well and was impressed he did what he did. However, the CBS announcers said it was the mark of his inexperience that he threw the ball not even close to the receiver....

Gotta love those announcers..

I wouldn't put too much stock in Stafford's failings at the moment. Yeah, he looks bad, but look at us from last season. You gotta know that the offense around a QB has to be working for him to succeed. From that foundation, it's up to the QB to lead the team.

Tebow hasn't got the chance, you're right... As for Crompton, he's got easily the best shot of the three. Richt seems to be fumbling the QB situation at UGA from inability to choose. I figure the coaches knew all week that with as much Ainge has been having to run this season, he wouldn't be doing much on a bum ankle and probably prepared Crompton to play.

I still have a sneaking feeling that Tebow is going to be the best of the current freshmen SEC QB's.

We lost. That's what I say.

Very negative perspective. Crompton gives the Vols the lead with 7 mins left in the game. The next time he gets the ball back, there are only 5 seconds left. I think he did his part to win the game.

Our defense lost this game. Specifically our 3rd down defense. 11-17 on 3rd and 4th down, with the majority of those longer than 7 yards.

That is not a talent problem. It's starting to look like a decade long philosophical problem.

I don't think it's the inability to choose. I think it's like what we had last year. None of those guys truly want it. When you have Stafford doing outstanding coming off the bench rather than starting, it shows he's not the go-getter he was played up to be. I don't think Bobo can clear the cobwebs out like Cut did with Ainge. Either Richt is going to have to step in to the QB situation directly or they just squandered a great HS talent.

I think the most overblown coaching issue is this "QB controversy." If you don't have one playing better than the other, you have to play them all and let it sort out.

Props to Jim Bob Cooter for having the most southern sounding name in the SEC! :salute:
My favorite names of all time were Porkchop Wolmack and Pig Prather (sp) from Miss. St. How appropriate is an O-Lineman named Porkchop.
