I think they should not allow religious symbols because of the separation of church and state, not due to offending people although I could see how someone would be offended seeing as how ridiculous people take religion.

The US Constitution specifically says, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ;" It does not say anything about state or local governments doing anything regarding religion. I am not advocating that states start do that, but as long as it isn't the Congress of the United States passing a law establishing a religion or prohibiting the free exercise of religion then there is not such thing as the "separation of church and state".

Cool story. I don't really care what the constitution says. I believe that there should be separation. The state and its entities should be religion neutral.

I see we are just going to ignore the 14th Amendment.

And just before I'm burned at the stake, I really don't care about the cross on the mound. Not a big deal to me. As I stated earlier though I could see how people could complain about it and before dismissing it because you happen to be Christian, think about why they would for half a second. That's all.

Newt, you’re a smart guy. I know you don’t believe that you’re objective on this subject. Come on
Personally I'm not religious I give you that. We have had plenty of discussion on it and good discourse at that but unlike most on here I don't have a dog in the fight so yeah I can be more objective than you can.

So the new standard is what we believe things should be? I thought this was a Constitutional Representative Republic where we have a set of founding documents that help us determine how to best run our country and if we want to change those documents we follow the specified process laid out in said documents to do so. Just because you believe there should be a separation doesn't mean that there actually is. It doesn't matter how many times you say it or how many times it is printed on a poster board and hauled out for a protest. We have a Constitution and if you don't like it then please petition to have it amended.

Yeah. The Constitution only matters when it fits your narrative. Also, thanks for the help. Echo Chamber is on my liberal buzz word bingo card.
My belief in religious neutrality for the state is just logical. Has zero to do with the constitution, at least for me.

I don’t claim to be objective. But yes we’ve had great discussions
