We had an Afghan restaurant on base in Bagram. The guys running it came through the gate at our compound. Only reason to enjoy security detail was letting them leave. We were guaranteed fresh, authentic naan, and occasionally even more. Lots of dishes with maters in them. Our translators were great cooks tooI loved getting those lamb and chiken shawarmas in Saudi. We'd give the guy money one day then the next day he'd slip them to us through the chainlink. They were wrapped in paper and messy as hell from all the sauce. Dam! I'm hongree!
