If you ever get a chance, head up to Tazewell County Country Club in Pounding Mill, VA. It's a private course just above the turnoff to Richlands if you're on the old road to Bluefield. That's pretty close to what rough should be, as was Buffalo Valley in the early 80s.

I’m fiercely competitive too, but only with myself. I don’t care if you shoot 74 or 104. My buddy on Monday shot 120+. But I was mad at how I was striking my irons and pulling them left a bit.

Funny you mention Buffalo. We hiked Buffalo Mtn today and kept trying to find an overlook to see where Buffalo used to be

I hit three or four great punch shots and told my buddy the only reason I’ve done that is how many punch shots I’ve had to hit throughout my career. I’m not usually a down the fairway, onto the green player, but I do scramble quite well.
