Ian is expected to rapidly intensify to a major hurricane (at least Category 3) either by the time it reaches western Cuba or in the southeastern Gulf of Mexico Tuesday.

That track looks like the worst part will miss you and NorCal, hopefully it does. Was planning on a trip to Tybee in 2 weeks, but waiting to see what happens. This thing may do damage over there. It might not, but there's no refunds if it does, and we can't go.

If that track is accurate, I should have some major rain and wind Wednesday night into Thursday late morning, but no threat of damage or power loss.

My guess is that the subject matter means you have to learn differently. Not the intuitive learning you used in culinary school; not hands-on and experiential. Now everything is mediated through words (the Word, lol.)

A lot of people are completely unable to learn the way you did. They need their lists and outlines and structure by text.

I used to learn by copious note-taking. I wrote down every lecture, almost verbatim, and somehow learned through the writing. Now I can’t write so quickly, so it’s a lot harder to learn via lecture. View attachment 494890
My biggest problem is reading an internet article then writing 200 word reports on "what valuable insight" I gained from it. I have 4 to do. Each week.

I know it sounds easy for you smart peebles, but I struggle terribly. It's weird. I think it's because of the subject.

Anyway, I'll be okay, it's just different.

I don’t think it’s easy at all. My eyes cross after the first paragraph.

I’ve even found that I have to write out the lyrics of any Fancy Music we’re singing, even in English, or I’m just reciting it syllable by syllable, without meaning. Drives me crazy.

— I have HUGE sympathy for those who’ve had to learn over Zoom the last few years.
