Cuonzo Martin is Derek Dooley

LMAO really 1985 you started this thread?? Here's another thread y'all might find interesting that he started 1 year ago...

I hope tonight's game vs. Duke keeps the Cuonzo doubters quiet for a while. He took a brand new team that is picked to finish 11th in the SEC and played toe to toe with the most heralded team/coach in College Basketball on a neutral court. If we give Cuonzo time, I really think he can build something special in Knox-Vegas. And let's not be too quick to jump ship when we lose several games this year. THis team will still be fortunate to win more than it loses, but I still think they'll pull some upsets along the way. If things fall their way, an NIT or lonshot NCAA bid could be in the cards.
Cuonzo is THE MAN!!

Some people finally see the handwriting on the wall.

Wow so 1 and done huh...I'm glad you don't run the freaking AD. Giving coaches 12 months to prove themselves, holy $hit.

You do realize what a laughing stock athletics would be here, and that we wouldn't be able to hire a coach right?

What you're suggesting has absolutely no logic to it.

you need to see the team play with a decent pg before making up your mind. Good pgs and guys that can fill it up like Henderson make coaches a lot better. We don't have either.
If he can't recruit correctly and/or develop one next year, we'll have a change on the horizon. All it takes sometimes in basketball is one player. Who knows. I would assume our terrible spacing would be better if we had someone that could handle the ball and cause problems.

Yup. Regardless next years team WILL be better, but if they're able to land a PG who can come in and start from day 1....well there will be a lot of people hopping on the bandwagon. Basketball is a sport things can change VERY quickly.

Well it's not Moore. He is playing well in his role right now. And its not Trae or Jordy. Lopez is too limited.
His career at UT will be based on his pg play next year.

I agree. No reason we shouldn't be able to land a good one...can offer immediate PT and look at who he'll be surrounded by.

You know what this is overreacting, but guess what Martin is not going to make it. 1-4, we are a top 4-5 basketball school in the SEC and this is unacceptable. BTW, Bruce may still happen.

O Boy! another stupid thread comparing a football coach to a basketball coach.

These threads usually get started by people who almost never frequent the b-ball forum. Quit starting these dumb "CCM is CDD" threads.

Men's athletics are pretty much a laughing stock of the sec because most opposing coaches just pencil in a W when they have to play us. As for not being able to hire a coach?
That's what happened to us this hire.

No he is not with a good point guard, we would be in the top 25, plus Stokes has not improved like we all thought he would.

Honestly, I'm at the point where I could care less if we win basketball games. This is probably the only time I could be considered a "bandwagon" fan by some people's terms. It's just complete garbage and I never thought I'd see the day where I didn't even care if we played basketball the rest of the season. I'm over sticking up for Martin too. I don't think he's a bad coach but the more of this season I see, the more last season seems like a fluke. Maymon is a great and important player and could make or break a season but not like this. We should be talented enough to grind out more wins than we have. I don't care for the Bruce Pearl talk and hope he NEVER coaches at UT again but Martin needs to show me he can close a basketball game out before I get any confidence in him. Again, for like the 4th time this season, I seen an ill advised shot at a critical time in the game. McRae had no business firing from that deep and coming out of a timeout, something should have been drawn up. It's just typical.

Neither of these guys knows how to win a close game. Dooley was over his head and now I am thinking CCM is as well. Never seen a team melt down as much as our BB team does ( other than Dooley's FB teams) ridiculous!

It aint CCM's fault his FT shooters choked; missed four in a row in the final 90 sec.'s.

Dooley and Martin were both hired by Mike Hamilton.

They will both be fired by Dave Hart.

Other than that they do not have much in common.

I'm all for giving him one more year. Teams have figured out Stokes, and one can't help but wonder how much a productive Maymon would help out on the court. Yes, it's frustrating, but I'm not giving up on Cuonzo yet.

It is now as painful to watch the BB Vols stumble over the court , blow FF and layups, make stupid passes ( this may the worst passing UT team ever- ) I could go on but who cares- I dont anymore. Wake me up in 10 years when this ordeal is over.
