Cuonzo Martin must be fired asap...

Come on man. Stokes clearly has more talent and potential. I would take Stokes over Maymon any day

I probably would too in the present. Two months ago, Stokes was playing like garbage, and it didnt seem to bother him. This is certainly not the case now, and we are seeing that talent and potential cone to fruition.

That's not really the point though, and never was. You were discounting the importance of Maymon's absence. In my opinion, that's foolish. I think it has far-reaching effects besides the actual numbers he contributes. Feel free to disagree.

No, I'm not saying Maymon isn't important, because he is. If we had Maymon along with Stokes, we probably would have 2-3, maybe even 4 more wins right now. I'm just saying, individually, Stokes seems to be a more complete and better player. The only thing that worries me is Maymon's height and shooting ability. Good thing is, he's super physical and gets rebounds. However, his shot is pretty ugly and kinda sucked at free throws last year

66% sucks from the FT line? For a PF? It was good for 5th on the team last year, and best on the team for anybody that wasn't a guard by trade.

Ironically, your knocks on Maymon are two of Stokes' biggest weaknesses (FT shooting and an ugly shot).

I'll give you the fact that Stokes has more natural talent and ability, but I'm not sure you can call him more complete. Maymon is a better passer, ball-handler, defender, and has better footwork in the post. He's also just as good a rebounder, despite being a couple inches shorter. Stokes might, and it's close, be a better scorer in the post because of his size

Maymon's fire and mental toughness is what was sorely missed this season. Stokes needs to absorb a little of it next season if he's going to play in the big leagues.

I've had the feeling it's just not him. Martin said he's not a vocal guy, it's just not his style. He'll dunk on somebody and has the little smirk, that's it. Just one time I'd like to see him yell, scream, chest bump someone...something. But if it's not him it's not him.

Kenny hall can scream for him. I'll take the smirk all day. The chest thumping is cartoonish.

You know what I mean. You wouldn't like to see him get pissed one time and play with some fire? IMO if he did he'd be borderline unstoppable and put up 20 and 15.

you can't stay in beast mode for 35 minutes though, but I understand your point. I just like the grin. And I like handing the ball to the ref as a guy takes your pump fake, hits your shoulder and ends up ricocheting about 6 feet like Stokes was rubber.

Right, I do laugh its funny, I just would've liked to have seen him get pissed for a stretch against say Memphis.

Maybe he gets pissed but just doesn't show it.

Maybe, but I want a big man that always plays like a big man. Not taking anything away from Stokes and Chism, but they are too finesse. I want a guy like Crews (but not an idiot off the court) or Slay, again. Chism had moments (ie the Kansas game), but not all the time. I want a monster inside.

Stokes and Chism are 2 completely different players. Stokes gets in there and bangs with guys; he doesn't shy away from contact.

Stokes is a banger without really trying. If you want more than what he brings, you will have to recruit from the WWF.

I think some of you guys should sit down low and realize how big stokes is. Comparing his movements to a 6'4 Slay doesn't make sense. Slay is the highest energy player we have had in 20 years.

I guess I had a brain event. For some reason, I thought slay was shorter. I wouldn't have considered him a pf though. He also had quite a bit of finesse to his gameand would pop out to midrange or 3 from the key.

I don't remember much of that, but his writeups agree with you. I like Stokes a lot, and he's very good at what he does, but for some reason I don't think he plays as big as he could. Maybe I just remember screaming at the TV a lot to slam it when he'd put the ball on the floor or something. There's just something there, but it has gotten better as the season progressed.

If we had Slay, no-one could zone us. He would work the middle and could go right, left or pullup. I like Richardson in that roll right now and even stokes a little bit.

Slay had an arrogance/swagger about him, too. If he was a D-lineman, he'd flatten the qb and tower over him a few seconds. That's the type of attitude I want from the big men. Not necessarily enough to get T'd up, but more than many of our big men have had recently.
