Cuonzo releases Landry

I agree with this but make no mistake it will make its way into the negative recruiting information packets of our competitors.

Didn't hurt Pearl too much did it?

I don't see 5* Jaquan Lyle being overly concerned about the the fact Martin helped a kid find a new home 3 months before the signing period began to improve his team.

Win and negative recruiting has little to no effect. If martin wins this will have minimal issues

Bingo. If Martin doesn't win this year the effect this has on the 2014 recruiting class really won't matter, because he likely won't be here.

So you saying this will have a negative effect on recruiting next year, you're saying we will struggle next year, miss the dance and Martin will be retained?

This would have some impact if martin goes 20-12 and squeaks into the tourney. Then yes I think he keeps his job. You have to remember pearl was the talk of college basketball after year one. That's the kind of winning that keeps things like this from mattering. Also I agree it matters not with the high profile recruits

So in other words we are talking a very small window in between that this situation will end up effecting us? If he does bad he's likely gone so obviously no effect, he does good all will be forgotten and no effect. It's if he squeaks into the dance as a 12 seed or do that we will see the effect of this...

If you think that the 2014 team just slipping into the tourney is only a small window of possibility you haven't been watching as close as I thought. IMO it's the most likely scenario

What a shock that the position of the anti-UT posters is being weakened as every new fact comes out.

They almost just slipped in last year...I see adding an all-sec PF, a year of experience for the returning guys and a top 20 recruit as a significant gain....so I think the most likely scenario is them to get in with relative ease. Seems most "experts" agree, as they're in most top 20s, and a 5 seed iirc in Lunardi's way too early bracket.

Jmo obviously

Hope your right. My confidence isn't that high in this staff having these guys ready to play at a high enough level for a entire schedule to get in easily. We should I agree

This is how I feel when GiveHimSix posts...

None of those involve trust and integrity. If you think families don't care about that in recruiting you don't understand recruiting.

You're right. I have no understanding of recruiting.

I never said it mattered not, only that you can add it to the list of other recruiting obstacles facing Martin.

You missed the point (which was that there are far more pressing issues facing CCM from a recruiting standpoint...this is just another, regardless of how you may rank them).

You then make my point, which was winning makes this all go away, and that this has little, if any, effect on higher profile recruits.

As far as the high profile guys go I agree no effect at all will be felt here. It's the Richardson/Thompson level recruits that may be effected. Those guys are not front page talents but we need to get those guys in every class. The trust/scholarship issue could easily be used against us with guys that have slightly lesser sexy programs recruiting them.

A 5 seed would be quite a leap after the past two seasons. And, a deep tourney run would be quite a leap for someone who's never coached in it.

I think a more realistic expectation is to be seeded between 7 and 9 and lose in the first weekend, if not the first day. We have a bad history as a program in 8-9 games.

I will be quite impressed if we get in with a seed of 6 or higher and further impressed if we are playing on the second weekend. Both are possible, but that's a lot of improvement to expect.

If Landry knew he was being released, why did TN not say it a long time ago? What a waste of our time guessing.

Interesting point and I can see where this might help a mid major in recruiting in a close battle. The length of time is really the only issue here, but it happens.

Jordan Cornish is rated 119 (around the level of Richardson)...he said this has ZERO impact on how he views Tennessee, and more importantly Coach Martin.

The post of mine you quoted I never once said those were my expectations.

I never said all recruits would be effected. Remember it only takes one recruit lost to make huge impact. Also keep in mind I highly doubt any kid is going to admit anything like this effecting them until the end of the process. They aren't telling you or any other tenn person anything negative about the character of the coaches here.

Martin and Landry could care less if the fan base is guessing who's coming or not. It's been hinted for about 6 months he wasn't going to be coming.

So if one recruit in the top 150 doesn't like what Martin did to Landry it's going to make a huge impact? Sorry but I don't agree with that.

Also, kids say what they don't like about a school all the time, not sure why you think they wouldn't. A lot of kids name the pros and the cons to certain schools.

Like I've said only time will prove this one way or the other, but I would be surprised if Martin doesn't have a top 25 class coming in next year.

Wait you mean the family knew about this awhile ago? You mean Martin didn't JUST drop the hammer on him? You mean when Landry's dad talked to Quinn he was lying?

I don't know what I find more pitiful.....the way zo handled this situation. ......the fact that someone folkows hyams on twitter.....or the fact that someone talks trash based off hyams tweets. LOL
