Cuonzo releases Landry

I have looked all over including NLI rules page and cant find where it says anything like that.....you will have to give me a link.

If you read the articles about the Dotson incident they all refer it. Tennessee was full with Childress, tyler and Dotson. Pearl saw the transfer from Marquette and thought he was gonna get him...he wasn't gonna release smith, wasn't gonna release Childress but needed room for this guy. So he told Dotson 24 hours before he started class to not bother coming to UT, classy.

Now regardless of whether a player not released from his LOI counts against you or not (and I'm fairly certain it does) your arguement about it would actually make what pearl did worse. He had room for Dotson by what you're saying yet elected to still screw him like that?

.in order for Travon Landry to be released from his LOI he had to request to be released from it. /QUOTE]

Just because you keep repeating it doesnt make it any truer

Read it and weep...

NLI signees and member institutions will no longer use the paper form for NLI releases of already signed prospective student-athletes.* A request for release from the NLI obligation must still be initiated by the NLI signee. It is then the institution's discretion to grant a release or not.

Hope Landry becomes the next FGCU Comer.

This thread is rediculus. I'm on the fence about CCM as anyone. Actually, after next year, I think we will be rebuilding again, which leads us to probably 1 NCAA tourney in the past 4+ years. Still keeping an open mind as much as possible and will sit back and enjoy next year before I get any type of pitch fork out. But that said, I'm an easy lean towards being critical of CCM.

But what has happened to Landry is NO BIG ISSUE. He had a scholly a week ago. Stokes stays putting us over the limit. CCM had to tell Landry last week in order for him to visit NMSU this past Saturday. CCM told Landry as soon as his scholly was not available. It happens to every coach at every single university.

Do you think Lee Smith asked out his LOI when Fulmer sent him packing before school started? No he didn't Fulmer released him to go where ever he could find a place that wasn't Tennessee.

Anybody know if Landry is going to have to sit out a year now?

Just when I thought you couldn't look more ignorant, you're comparing the lee smith situation to Landry? Lee smith was granted his LOI, he came to school like promised...and then he went out and got a DUI and was dismissed from the team. How the F does that have anything to do with Landry?

You're really reaching. And the fact you don't know if Landry will have to sit out tells me you're more clueless than I originally thought on this topic...no he doesn't have to sit out, why would he?

YOU MADE THE DEFINITIVE STATEMENT, YOU SHOW ME WHERE IT SAYS LANDRY ASKED OUT OF HIS LOI.

Because both his father and coach act like he didn't. Their attitude towards Tennessee contradicts everything you are saying.

The ONLY way that a player can be released from his LOI is of the request of the player. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY. Not at the request of the university or coach. Coach can say that you do not fit into our plans and will probably not see any playing time, but the player does not have to accept the coach's offer. He can still keep his offer.

You just made the definitive statement about LOIs now that you have been shown you are wrong, I am the dumb one.

Dude we couldnt triple your IQ and reach triple digits

WTF are you talking about? What have I been proven wrong about? I just showed you where it says a player has to make the request, and then you decided somehow that was similar to lee smith getting dismissed lmao

So was Landry that is the point, at least there was a reason Smith was dismissed Martin didn't have one he just cut Landry loose because Martin is incompetent

Travon Landry was dismissed from school for legal reasons? Wow, you're literally too stupid to argue with.

If you don't understand the difference between a LOI and a player who has yet to step on campus, and a player who is on campus and gets arrested then there really is no point in continuing this discussion.

Lots of arguing about a player who can't play big boy basketball and a coach who can't coach big boy basketball.

Lee Smith was not dismissed from school His scholarship was pulled just as Landry's was pulled. For very different reasons but both were pulled make no mistake about it.

I would not be shocked if Landry did ask out of his LOI. Once CCM told him he would never see the court and that he had no intentions of ever playing him, most kids would get the hint and move on. Make no mistake about it, Landry wanted to be a VOL. He wanted to be a VOL who would be given a chance to compete. CCM made it clear if he stayed, he would not be given that chance. Landry was forced out and all those trying to sugarcoat it are just looking for an excuse to hope UT can save face. No doubt parents and recruits will take notice of this. When your a losing basketball coach and you start doing some shady recruiting, your time is coming to an end. Just a matter of time.

This will have almost 0 effect on recruiting, especially outside of HP.

Like I said you could triple you IQ and not reach triple digits. Being dismissed from the football team is not being dismissed from the school. Lee Smith was not told he couldn't attend UT only that he couldnt attend UT with a football scholarship.

"He enrolled early at UT, hoping to get a jump start on learning the offense and getting some early playing time. As freshmen started to report in August, Smith was charged with DUI on campus and was immediately dismissed by former coach Phillip Fulmer before he even stepped on the practice field."

The fail is strong in here. Lee Smith wasn't dismissed? Riiiiggt.

Comparing that situation to Landry's is the poster child for an apples to oranges conversation.

CCM time will end depending on revenue brought into the UT athletic department, success with W and L, and operating within the guidelines and rules provided by the NCAA.
