Cuonzo releases Landry

That is one guy......I would rather have Lindsey.....call and ask him

Tennessee's chances with Lindsey have always been small, if UNC, Duke and UK don't offer we have a chance. If they offer he's going to one of those schools and it has nothing to do with Landry.

I'll ask Jordan later tonight and let you know what he says.

wtf

Thompson > Landry

Someone had to get cut. You're just looking for something to b!tch about.

He should not have been signed.....that was pretty obvious......Coach needs to do a much better job evaluating the players so he doesn't sign them and have to cut them before they reach campus.

I agree with that. I don't think he should be criticized for correcting his mistake.

Did you happen to read the bolded part in my above quote (I don't mean that rudely)...landrys dad says "haven’t been told anything different than what we originally agreed on back at the early signing (period).”

Do you happen to know what the agreed upon part is? I don't, but is it impossible that there was an agreement between the Landry's and Martin that if there was room he could come in? However, if stokes returned and took the final scholarship he would be released from his LOI?

He said Martin's dad, wasn't sure if I missed something.

A lot can change in 22 weeks here's the quote

Hmmm do you happen to know what that "agreed upon" part was he's referring to? Maybe there was an agreement that if there was room he would come in, but that if Stokes returned he may be the odd man out?

That makes no sense.....why not say if we have room we will sign you in the spring signing period

It's unfortunate for Landry, but his stat production doesn't warrant a scholly to UT. This is a tough business and CCM knows he can ill afford to bring in another below average player that can't help this team win. Look at the kids numbers this past season and if you believe he should still be a part of this team then okay, but you will be in the minority in that thinking.

They both agreed in the early signing period he was coming to UT. There is no other way to take that, none. HE freaking signed and we accepted. There is no debate and you just keep looking dumber and dumber by arguing that fact. A LOI's only contingent on the kid qualifying academically not the fact he might not have a good senior season.

I have no problem with Landry not coming but it's pretty obvious he was strung along.....that's not right doing that to a kid.

I'm not saying its what "the agreed upon" part was, just saying, neither you or I know exactly what that agreement was. You usually don't see the wording of "what we agreed upon" though mentioned by recruits parents which makes me think there may have been some talk back when he signed that this was a possibility.

That's definitely true and he needs to stop signing marginal players....we should have been recruiting better talent than Landry from the beginning

A LOI also asked to be asked out of by a player genius.

Show me where it says Landry asked out of his LOI?

As of 2 weeks ago Landry's dad intimated that Landry wanted to come here.

Well considering you have to ask out of a letter of intent to be released it's kinda common knowledge Landry at some point asked out, but go ahead and keep looking dumb, it's pretty comical.

Situations like this happen in college basketball year after year. Landry agreeing to his release is not special or unethical. Moving on, nothing to see here.

It's just business. Good call by CCM. Now let's get ready to Dance in 2014!! Elite 8 or better.

Actually, it should have never come to this. Martin should have rescinded the scholarship offer last fall before signing day. He did not and Landry signed the letter of intent. Once he signed, discussion of releasing him before he set foot on campus should have ended. Martin has taken a mistake he made in signing Landry and made it worse.

Landry doesn't have grade issues so why you're bringing up grades is beyond me. Let me dumb this down for you IN ORDER FOR LANDRY TO GET A RELEASE FROM HIS LOI, HE HAD TO ASK OUT

No worries I'm sure your parents don't mind you spending your allowance on recruiting sites.

Once again, you keep repeating the same thing over and over thinking if you say it enough it will make it true. It does't.

We've had 5 spots open up,so why are we only signing 4?What am I missing?Honest question..
