Current status of obamacare.

I am sure you are right that defensive medicine costs would go down, but that is only stopgap, as you note above. And undefined.

The one thing I can tell you with absolute certainty is that as a small business owner we cannot continue down this path much longer. Employee contributions, setting up HSAs, increased deductibles.... they all might save us for a year ot two, but that's about it.

How is this a stopgap - it removes a source of costs and that removal should be relatively permanent.

You are missing the power of reconnecting people to HC costs. Health care utilization will change more with what I suggest than with what Obama suggests. In fact, what I suggest should moderate HC utilization and most importantly do so by choice of individual patient. The Obama plan will increase HC utilization and can only contain it via government based rationing.

Given your concerns you should be vehemently opposed to the Obama plan. It does nothing to address costs and by all measures should increase costs rather than slow the growth of costs.

As a small business owner, which I am, you should be crapping your pants about the hideous level of new taxes being levied to support this and other programs. Pretending that medical insurance premiums are more insidious than leaching gov't programs is just nonsensical to me. The small business owner is the guy footing all the new bills.

At least with some education and effort, you can help your employees pay for and make solid decisions about their care.
