I think everyone would agree that Cutcliffe is a great coach. I personally think he got the shaft with Ole Miss.

Cutcliffe was 44-29 in six seasons at Ole Miss, 25-23 in the SEC, and just a season removed from going 10-3 and finishing tied for first in the SEC West with Eli Manning at quarterback.

All this being said, how long do you guys think he'll stick around as an Offensive Co-ordinator\QB coach?

If Fulmer falls out of favor sometime down the line, is he a likely candidate? It's no fluke that his return has sparked the Vols back into the SEC race.

Any thoughts?

I think there will be rumors at the end of every season, but I don't see him leaving Tennessee for a little while. I think he has at least 2-3 good years invested, then maybe exploring other options. I just hope his love for Knoxville and The University of Tennessee will motivate him to stick around until he's done coaching. But that's a best-case scenario.

If UT continues to do well, I think he would probably be considered for the Kentucky job or the job at Miss. State. Not sure if he would actually be offered.

Fulmer probably hopes he doesn't have a heart condition any time soon....

I find this difficult to address because though UT has improved remarkably I would argue that this is still not a championship offense. Couple that with the fact that Cut was fired from one head coaching job already there are legitmate questions about his candidacy.

The second question I would have is whether or not he would leave UT for a lower level SEC school. After his experience at Ole Miss (based on current results) I would say that was a very quick firing. Would he want to subject himself to that situation again?

But don't you think his resume already warrants the chance at a bigger school than Kentucky or Miss. State? 10-3 at Ole Miss says alot, and he is owed a lot the credit for how good Eli was in college and how good he is now in NY. Peyton too, obviously. He does seem fond of the Knoxville area though.

I do not believe that Tennessee is in the race for the sec title

Have you seen my Gators schedule the next 4 weeks?? :scare: To come out 3-1 would be a blessing! One loss in the SEC doesn't mean you're out of anything.

I think his firing was an injustice.

David Cutcliffe

I would have loved to make a pitch for a guy like this over Ron Zook a few years ago anyday!

Billy Brewer certainly would prefer that Cut were still around.
Brewer definitely is not an Orgeron fan.
Some comments from Brewer in a recent tfp article...
"If you see the facilities and things and what they've done to this campus and the money they've spent, there should be no way that anybody -- I don't care if he's out of kindergarten -- shouldn't win at least five or six ballgames here," Brewer said Monday. "You're playing seven home ballgames, so you need to win five out of the seven you play at home. We only played two games at home when I was here, and we didn't have lights until 1990."

Brewer directed the Rebels to a 67-56-3 record from 1983-93 before losing his job in July 1994 after the NCAA uncovered 15 major rules violations and cited Ole Miss for a lack of institutional control. During his 11 seasons, he won at Tennessee, Alabama and Florida, won three of his last five against Georgia and went 8-3 against Mississippi State.

Now a host of the "Hotty Toddy Hotline" postgame radio show, Brewer is having a difficult time accepting Orgeron and not Cutcliffe as the coach of his alma mater. Cutcliffe, now in his second stint as Tennessee's offensive coordinator, led the Rebels to a 44-29 record from the 1998 Independence Bowl through 2004 but was fired after his only losing (4-7) season.

"The guy is here six or seven years, and he has five or six winning seasons and one bad year," Brewer said. "He has one bad year, and then they want to fire him. They were saying he couldn't make a decision on his quarterback by playing three, but the new guy comes in here and does the same thing and he goes 3-8. He's worse!

"Why would you do something like that? You're giving this guy three, four or five years, and the other guy won for you from the outset consistently. I don't know, but I do know it's like daylight and dark between these two coaches with David Cutcliffe and this new guy here. There is no comparison. David was just a good guy. I just don't know about this fellow."

I would consider the OC job at UT a notch above the HC job at UK or MSU.

I would like to see Coach Cutcliffe as our Head Coach.....I think he'd be a great head coach....But I don't want him to get it at the cost of Fulmer's job......I think when Fulmer retires that he and John Chavis will be the two candidates for the job....JMO

There's great irony in Brewer hosting "Hotty Toddy Hotline." I wonder if Majors and Schnellenberger call in regularly mistakenly thinking it's a place to order low cost booze.

I think Cut is doing a good job and deserves credit. But I think a lot of credit goes the the Head coach as well for making the changes needed to turn this team around. There's more to the changes on this team than a new OC. The attitude for one, from the big man at the top all the way down attitudes have changed and would have with or without Cut. Cut brings a lot of experience and a built in trust from CPF that makes him a great addition to the team. But make no mistake gator, CPF is the man and is calling the shots.

Johnny needs only drop by Lynchburg for all the free Old No. 7 he can carry.... Schnellenberger probably chooses Kentucky bourbon...

Hotty Toddy Hotline actually sounds more like a 900 number though...

It's not a completely ridiculous prediction. He has ties to the area.
