Cutcliffe's job

I think a lot of it depends on his health. He might not want the stress of a head coaching job (though oc is obviously not stress free). And I think moving his family to Knoxville is hopefully what will keep him here.

I like this quote from the article.

But instead, chancellor Khayat served up this steaming hot plate of fresh malarkey: "It's essential that the football program be competitive. It's not now-and-then competitive. It's every-year competitive," Khayat said. "We expect our program to be outstanding, to be moving forward. We will not accept ... mediocrity.

LOL I bet he has been eating a lot of crow these last 2 years.:)

The way Ed is coaching them mediocrity is something that they can only hope for these next couple years.

Look, I'm no big fan of Ole Miss, even though a hunk of my $$$ goes there in the form of out of state tuition and sorority(?sp) dues, but I can say that Cutcliffe didn't recruit worth a flip except for one of the Manning kids. He left the cupboard absolutely bare. I don't doubt that he is a good coach, but can he recruit?? At least Coach O is recruiting well and I think if given enough time will turn the program around. I remember Frank Beamer first few miserable years at VT, so Orgeron may yet turn it around unlike his neighbor to the east (Sly Croom).

I bet Croom sticks around a year or two longer than you think due to the probation factor.

I don't even want to think about were Cutcliffe would go if he left UT. I just hope that he stays around for a while.

I find this difficult to address because though UT has improved remarkably I would argue that this is still not a championship offense. Couple that with the fact that Cut was fired from one head coaching job already there are legitmate questions about his candidacy.

Cut has a lot of rebuilding to do after the mess Randy Sanders left the offense in. Of course they aren't a championship offense yet - did you really expect they would be?

No I didn't. I knew the OL was going to be a huge problem for this team. I would think before a big time program comes calling they will want to see a more "finished" product.

I agree. Honestly, he may be more suited as a Off. Coordinator than a head coach. Although, I thought he did a great job at Ole Miss with what he head. The bottom SEC schools will always have a hard time competing because it's hard to recruit against UT, UF, UGA, Auburn, LSU and 'Bama. Still can't believe they fired him.:post-4-1090547912:

I can definitely agree with that. I guess the bottom line is that he was fired from Ole Miss, so whether it was right or not is a moot point. Whatever his future holds will be dictated mostly on what he can sustain again at UT.

I think we've already seen a vast improvement. As for the OL, I can empathize. That seems to be a pain point for UF recruiting as well. :vava:

I don't understand why UT cant run behind Sears and Ligon on the left side of the line.

Both of them are seniors with playing experience. I knew the Oline would have new players but I expected UT to have success when they run behind those two. Very disappointing.

I'd like to see you say that to his face! :p
I'm 5'9'', 180. However, I guarantee if I said it with Patrick Willis or Ray Lewis standing behind me, he'd slink off after apologizing for annoying me. Also, I'd have no problem saying it to him. I've never said anything on this board I wouldn't say directly to the individual I'm opining about.
