D Green transfer

We'd have to be crazy to pass on a 5* that would want to be a Vol. That said, is he even interested?

He's not even transferring. I don't know where the op even thought he was but if he did he wouldn't be able to play until his junior year and we would have enough depth that he would probably be buried anyway. He isn't that good obviously or he would of got more playing time.

Folks - he doesn't fit in this spread offensive scheme unless he decides to lose 20-25 lbs. to gain some quickness. There is no FB to clear the way for him and he is a Lacey style back that needs a big man blocking line for him to power through.

Where did OP get info that he was considering transferring?

Apparently there was a rumor awhile back that he and some other freshman weren't happy because they were promised more playing time than they were getting.....I guess they were talking about transferring, I never heard anymore about it though.

Michigan's leading rusher is Fitzgerald Toussaint, who is a senior with 13 TD's this year. D Green is up next year, guess we will see who good he is in 2014. Currently, Michigan has no verbals from RB's either. I can't imagine any scenario where he leaves.

Pretty much my thoughts as well...This was in the middle of the season, so I'm sure if he was going to transfer it would have been known by now.

Have you ever watched Alabama play? You are aware that they are a zone team and almost exclusively play out of 1 back formations, right?

After being informed today that we only have 2 running backs on scholarship I think it would be stupid not to want this kid.

I say take him. He would have to sit out a year and have 2 years of eligibility remaining. Maybe Gillespie can turn him into a contributor. After all, he is a 5 star who could be really good in the right environment. We have nothing to lose. We could leave him on the bench if he doesn't hack it. I am not sure of the rules, but don't believe a transfer counts against your recruiting class--just your 85 roster limit. You can never have enough good RBs on your roster. This will never happen, but the rewards would greatly outweigh the risks.

The transfer that I would want is Silverberry Mouhon, Kevin's big brother. He has graduated from Cincinnati and has a year of eligibility left. He is a HOSS. Butch probably recruited him so the familiarity is there.

Really? So far he's done more than Johnny Football did as a true freshman.

Sarcasm? Manziel redshirted.

Derrick Green was an unhappy true Freshman at Michigan which contributed to his lack of production. There is no way CBJ would say no thanks if DG wanted to transfer here.

Im aware Manziel redshirted. But to act like Green is a bust is absurd.

Id take him. We only have 2 scholly RBs right now. Plus, a fresh start does wonders for some players. I'm also a firm believer that a 5 star like Hurd needs healthy competition for him to earn his carries, not be handed the job based on star ranking.

Two words, Justus Pickett :eek:hmy::eek:hmy::eek:hmy::eek:hmy::eek:hmy::eek:hmy::eek:hmy::eek:hmy:

I really hope my sarcasm meter is broke.

Seems like the "Gurshall" attack at UGA has some Vol Fans perplexed.... Just remember that Marshall and Gurley are completely different types of Backs, although both are devastating weapons. I know it hasn't been brought up yet but I'm sure that's where some minds were wondering.

This kid has lots of potential, but I don't think he's a spread running back. He needs to line up in an I formation, pound the rock offense.

Question best left answered until after NSD, imo. Let's see who the coaches reel in before we start talking about accepting transfers. If Scott signs with UT, I'm not sure I see a benefit to adding Green to the stable.
