D. Thomas to Oregon!

Maehl, I'm gonna say this again... Mamba is not coming to Eugene to play CB.

He's a Duck tonight because Chip Kelly completely blew him away with his plans for using him on offense. He'll be the quintessential "TZR" weapon for Oregon, sliding seamlessly between the Slot, Backfield, and even out wide.

Your opinion contradicts with the consensus of Oregon fans and with what everyone else is saying.

He'll primarily be a CB/PR, and he might see some time at TZR/Slot WR.

Speaking of which, I hear Colt Lyerla apparently wants to play RB? Heard something to that effect on the radio the other day. If the kid even has a bit of a nose for defense, he needs to be OLB.

Yeah, that's where he needs to be. He'd have to compete with James, Seastrunk, Barner, Carson, Williams, etc., etc....

I don't think Rick is all that great just that they didn't seem to capitalize on Carroll leaving or the USC sanctions. I definitely think you guys are the team to beat now in the Pac-10.

Neuweasel doesn't know what he's doing. That's about the best way to sum it up.

where do you hang out!?

DSA, ATQ, etc.

It's pointless to argue about this now, anyway. Chip probably doesn't even know for sure where he's going to play yet. We should just be celebrating the fact that he's going to be a Duck. I'm sure he'll be helpful in whatever capacity the coaches want him to be. Cheers.

'SC fans are now claiming that Snoop went with De'Anthony up to Eugene and that this is all a huge ploy sponsored by Nike. Supposedly, De'Anthony is going to be "taken care of" by Nike after college. This whole thing was set up by Snoop.

Unfortunately, Snoop sponsors Adidas.

You don't know what you're talking about.

Nothing but a rumor started by salty fans, though it wouldn't surprise me. Phil Knight called Blackmon this morning after he'd faxed his LOI and was told by Phil that he'd show em around the Nike facilities when he got to Eugene.

Something for sports advertising.

Perhaps, but that's irrelevant. My point stands. :ermm:

But seriously.

How do you know? I could honestly see him playing both ways. He could do both, but I've heard a lot of talk that he'll basically be Cliff Harris v. 2.0. Then again, I'd love to see him playing Slot/TZR. Who knows? We'll find out soon enough.

Well, when stuff likes this is out there, I think it would surprise me...

Because part of the presentation that landed him here was a CGI rendered video of how he'd be used on offense?

And for what it's worth, I'm not 100% positive where he'll play, but if he doesn't get at least a few touches on offense, it'll be a shame. This dude is Percy Harvin esque. Watch his film.

I didn't know about any CGI video. I've seen film. The Harvin comparison is pretty accurate. I think he'll see regular time on D and be used in certain situations/packages on offense, and on punt returns. We shall see.

Just for the hell of it, we could see a package with Darron Thomas at QB, LMJ/Seastrunk/Barner at RB, Blackmon and Huff wide, and Sumler and De'Anthony Thomas in the slot. How's that for speed?
