LOL, yeah Worthy or Gasol probably goes there? I'm more concerned with Wilt at number 1 because he wasn't a Laker all that long (I'd put him behind Kobe), and West is probably ahead of Kobe. I go:
Magic
Kareem
Shaq
West
Kobe
That Wade article says Lebron is #2 and Pippen has said Lebron probably surpassed MJ, that he himself was better than Lebron, and then ripped Zeke for saying that lebron was better than mj. He's all over the place.
Kobe was a great talent but he was primarily a scorer who didn't score very efficiently. How can you be considered that great and not score efficiently? It's like calling someone who hit .265 a great hitter. Outside of two great finals runs without Shaq, his career is severely overrated.
When your peers say you are the 2nd best, I listen. Nobody knows better what these guys can do on the court than the guys who compete with them. And like I said those links were just a small sample. The list of players who think Kobe is the best player since Michael Jordan is a mile long.
Dirk Nowitzki Calls Kobe Bryant "Greatest Player of My Time" | Complex
This is a guy who played against Duncan, LeBron, and Shaq. Dirk is an all-time great in his own right. Him saying Kobe is the best player of his generation speaks volumes.
But people say Kobe! before shooting jumpersAnd DWade said Lebron can never be on MJ's level. Player opinion is at the end of the day, opinion.
Kobe isn't even one of the best scorers like people think. He could make difficult shots. He could get hot and beat a team by himself. But looking at him career wise, he was incredibly inefficient, choked big games, never won many MVP's/scoring titles like you would imagine the best scorer all-time should have. But because he was flashy and could score buckets he gets a ton of hype.
His last game was a perfect representation of his career. Lots of points but a ton of terrible shots.
I don't judge players based on hype, stats, or rings. I watch the tape and judge their impact on the game as well as their skills and ability. Scottie Pippen is easily one of the 10 best players in NBA history. He's the greatest perimeter defender of all-time. Put him on any wing in NBA history and he's locking them up. His length and athleticism are unparalleled. He's also one of the best point forwards of all-time. As good as it gets passing the ball and pushing the pace full court after a rebound. His footwork in the post was also elite for perimeter player.
My Top 10 NBA Players (based on watching them play):
1. Michael Jordan
2. Kobe Bryant
3. Hakeem Olajuwon
4. Shaquille O'Neal
5. LeBron James
6. Scottie Pippen
7. David Robinson
8. Tracy McGrady
9. Kevin Garnett
10. Kevin Durant
This list doesn't include players before the 1990s because I never got to see them play in their prime so I would be doing them an injustice to try and rank them. So out of fairness I have omitted them.
Hes been overrated and he was never the best player in the NBA at any point in his career. His best seasons were with the back to back years with Pau.
In no order these players are above Kobe
Jordan
Lebron
Magic
Bird
Kareem
Dr J
Duncan
Shaq
KG
Durant
Hakeem
Honestly, players have some crazy ideas. Barkley is my favorite player of all time but his analysis is garbage. Magic calls Kobe the greatest Laker...Magic is, hands down. Kobe is probably 5th.
T-Mac was probably the best wing talent in the period between MJ and Lebron, but he never realized his potential.

Lol that list is awful D4H.
Are you really telling me Tim Duncan isnt in your top ten? David Robinson is better than Tim Duncan?
Tim Duncan is the greatest PF of all time.
Tim Duncan had an incredible career, and in that sense he should be higher on a greatness list than Robinson, but if I'm building a team, I pick Robinson over Timmy.
Defense? Robinson
Scoring? Robinson
Passing? Timmy
Rebounding? Push
