good matchup tonight

glavine and arroyo
Galvine's career record in Cincinnati is roughly 179-6. The Reds have next to no success against him at home.

dannnnnng!
there are other good pitching matchups tonight too... halladay/mussina for one

Too bad Sheets owned us today. I thought about not starting him in my fantasy league since I held a pretty convincing lead. 14-0 heads up on yahoo. Well, sometimes you just gotta get outpitched

I got to go up to Great American Ballpark, for the 2nd time, two weekends ago and see the Reds against the Rockies. It was pretty cool that day because it was induction day for the Reds' Hall-of-Fame. Lee May, Tom Seaver, and Tom Browning were inducted. (I remember seeing Browning pitch once at Riverfront....err Cinergy, or whatever - I always called it Riverfront Stadium.)

I was glad to get to see Todd Helton play - I think he just had one hit that day. Also, Adam Dunn hit a homerun (Why is he batting 2nd?), and threw a runner out at the plate. Overall, except for being miserably hot, it was a great day. The Reds won, scoring 5 in the 8th. I hope the Reds make the playoffs.

a few points

1) say what you will, wayne krivsky is a genius. and don't think he won't sign a big name in the offseason (or maybe two). Barry Zito anyone?
2)The bullpen has been pretty much lights out since the break
3)give us three years, and we have the best pitching staff in baseball. oh god i can't wait. The Big Red Machine all over again

Barry Zito would be great, but do you really think that we will have the best pitching staff in baseball on our small payroll?

the new owner is much more willing to spend, a player like Zito is certainly not out of the question. As for the best staff, I think if Arroyo and Harang continue to pitch the way they have this year, Ramirez continues to develop, and Homer Bailey is half the pitcher they think he is going to be, our staff will be very good. That is without us even signing one in the offseason, and I think we will certainly be a player in the Zito sweepstakes. If we don't sign him, we will sign someone.

I was shocked that VKB didn't give us an Eddie Guardado update in here.

On my way to the Bay Area tomorrow for Reds-Giants and Red Sox-A's. If the Reds still lead the Wild Card after this West Coast swing, you have to like their chances.
