I don't understand this unless the Reds can now trade to get a good outfielder or pitcher. Not that Lux doesn't have upside. It is just that the Reds have so many infielders.

This was a good read. You get to know the way the guy thinks and how he plans to go about his role. Could be very valuable in the clubhouse as well as the field having won a couple of WS and played with talented, established players. Seems like a Tito type player.

There are three or four wide open positions in my mind. Competition for them will heat up in ST. That competition tends to make players better.

The more I have thought through the Lux trade, the more it makes sense to me. Marte was a big bust last season. Elly plays 3B well, McLain plays SS well, Lux plays 2B well. All three play one of the other positions reasonably well. That leaves 1B and the OF to solidify. It improves the D significantly and the O will be better with McLain back and possibly with Lux hitting in a friendlier park. Candelario, CES and Steer are options at 1B and some DH. Steer can go OF much of the time.

CES, Marte and Espinal are question marks for ST to resolve.
