Just my final thoughts: home run hire, I was interested in Skip but was expecting someone like David Ross. I never imagined we’d get a guy with his resume given the fact we’re so cheap and having to pay Bell for two years not to manage and also because hiring Terry is going to cost them a lot of money. I don’t think he’d come out of retirement without a firm commitment from the ownership and front office to increase payroll to add to the nice young core we got either.

This team needed an old veteran manager and we probably got the best candidate on the market. Now we’ll see what the coaching staff looks like. The only one that probably stays is DJ and Krall said from the start he is under contract for next year and will be moving forward.

I like DJ, hope it works out for him.

So glad to see this happen. I am getting too old to suffer through more mismanagement. I want my Reds back.

Arizona Fall League started yesterday:

Matt McLain hit a double, HR, and walked in his final 3 ABs.
CES went 2/4, and double, and 3 RBIs

Tyler Callihan went 1-3 with two walks, a steal, and he scored three runs.
Edwin Arroyo went 1-3 with a double, run, and an RBI.

Me too now I should be able to watch games here in West TN I believe. Looks like we're discussing a trade with KC for Brady Singer for India.

They are. I am OK with it. Always need quality arms in the pen. We need to lock in on who plays what in the IF. The rotation method they have been doing sucks and it shows in the stats. Guys need to lock into their jobs and then have a quality utility guy or two to handle injuries and rest.

Optimistic. Krall giving a good feel of how they plan to go about the roster, payroll and season. I guess I will be getting the MLB TV package this season.

This article give an indication of what Krall would like to see happen with Martinez, which would free up money for signings and the next couple of years. Martinez is willing to consider a three year deal. Will see what happens.

Not that you ever complain about solid starting pitching but what are we going to do with Greene, Lodolo, Abbott, Lowder, Burns, Singers, and Martinez (seeing him as a SP or RP?)? Hopefully that settles McLain in at 2B full-time and not try to move him to the OF like we thought about.

Yup - I think that ends the speculation on McLain and they are happy with his progress.

Personally, I think we will know more with Martinez if he signs that multi year contract. JMO - they can extend his useful career by being in long relief and a spot starter. If they don't extend they will use him up and potentially trade him before the deadline.
