Da' Rick Rogers to Colts

Would getting caught in posession hamper your career in any way. If so why would you jeopardize all of your hard work.

Cops aren't gonna bust down my door for no reason, and it was never in my possession other than while lit, bit of a surprise from my younger brother in fact. Sometimes living life is ok, especially if you're smart about the risks you take.

Cut the s***, everyone knows Da'Rick Rogers is a straight up thug. His freshman year he almost got kicked off the team for a bar fight, but was able to stay because he was such a good player. Then he got in trouble several more times, and finally I guess Dooley cracked. Sure weed isn't "bad", but getting caught with it several times and having such a bright future otherwise tells me he is a stupid thug.

Such an Internet tough guy.

I'm pulling for the kid. He has said he regrets the way he acted at TN and that the school and fans deserved better. He was/is young and immature. Hopefully he gets it together.

Some people posting about Da'Rick are dumb. The kid got kick out of UT, what else has he done? People keep saying "I'm tired of him getting second chances." He had 1 second chance which was TTU. He signed with the Bills. But wait that's a second chance! No it's not. It's because he has ability to be a potential starting receiver. But wait, Da'Rick is a thug! Yet, Johnny Manziel is praised but is one of the worst show of class athletes in sports today, and he has openly said he will continue to "live his life" which pretty much means he will party and not a give f***. All you oldies out there label Da'Rick as a thug when all he did was fail drug tests from weed which isn't like Travis Henry (my favorite player ever) whom every one here considers a legend was put in jail for trafficking cocaine. I know there is a difference between those two analogies but Should I go through a list of highly respectable people who have failed drug tests or have done drugs.

If it was about having good players then why didnt he try to keep janzen, bryce brown, etc. and why did he kick off Darren Myles Jr, you know, the guy who was actually in the bar fight u speak of

A lot of people tend to forget that Da'Rick lacked a father figure for the most part of his life, which could and likely would have detrimental effects on most people. Sometimes the best way to learn and to overcome obstacles in your life is to learn from your mistakes and grow from them. Experience is the best teacher after all. Besides, he gave is all on the field as a Vol. That's more than most of us have done. Cut the guy some slack.

That aside, as a Colts fan I very much wanted our organization to draft Da'Rick. Now we get him on the cheap. Even better. I think with proper leadership, guidance, and most of all coaching (which he obv. lacked all with Dooley), that he could turn his act around, learning from his mistakes and ultimately progressing into a productive WR in the NFL.

I for one wish him the best of luck and welcome him to one of my favorite teams, the Indianapolis Colts. Best of luck, Da'Rick!

I agree with some of the above posts. Had DR had someone to act as a father figure, just MAYBE, he would have someone shouting in his ear what common sense looks like. He didn't. He got Dooley. Dooley couldn't mentor a kid if it saved his life.

Best of luck to him. He ultimately paid the price. C'mon, going from UT facilities to tech facilities.

Shivers.

Exactly. Given similar circumstances, I bet a lot of us would have done much worse than Da'Rick has

No, JM is an immature arrogant brat. He better learn or the fall will be hard. He will never be an NFL QB.

wait...what???
JM allegedly smoked pot (alleged photos to prove it...allegedly), we know there are cases of underage drinking, he is arrogant, talks shyte, ignores his coach, allegedly broke NCAA rules, around the 19-22 year old range... what is the difference again?

I hope for any young man with the talent that these two possess to finally "get it" and have a fantastic life.

Those saying he gave his all didn't watch the games. He gave effort when there was a chance the ball was going to be thrown his way. When he knew it was going to be a running play, he took the play off and pouted. It happened in most plays during the loss to Kentucky, which is another reason the seniors on the team were going to knock the taste out of his mouth and he was banned from team functions.

Janzen was allowed to stay on after an armed robbery, Myles Jr. obviously wasn't as good of a player, or did something worse the janzen and Da'Rick, I can't say I know. But I know if Da'Rick and Janzen were practice squad players they would of been released immediately. And Bryce Brown didn't do anything wrong, he just wanted to transfer.

Bryce Brown did very little right in his short stay here. A completely forgettable recruit that created more drama off the field than on.

And please; no excuses about his overbearing Father...............

I don't know enough about him as a person nor did I ever say he was a "thug". This thread is not about stallworth or little its about da'rick. I hope the guy the best as a man. But to act like some of the things these athletes do is ok is ridiculous. I know a lot smoke weed, but they know if they get caught what the consequences are. So why defend it?

Comments: BearCat's point is that we have star ex-Vols who did worse than Da'Rick, yet we insist they are VFL whereas certain people on this board consider DR the Devil's heir apparent rather than a VFL. His mention of Stallworth and Little underscores Bearcat's point. I'm sure you knew that, chvolman. His point quite valid, actually.

Stallworth was charged with DUI manslaughter on April 1, 2009; he surrendered to police on April 2, 2009, and was released on $200,000 bail. As a result of a plea deal, he received a sentence of 30 days in the county jail, plus 1,000 hours of community service, 2 years of community control, and 8 years probation. He has also received a life-time suspension of his Florida state driver's license. On July 10, 2009, Stallworth was released from county jail after serving 24 days of a 30-day sentence.

The Associated Press reported on June 16, 2009, that Stallworth and the Reyes family reached a financial agreement, avoiding a civil lawsuit. The amount of the settlement was not disclosed.

After leaving a birthday party in 1998, Little crashed into and killed Susan Gutweiler in St. Louis, Missouri. When tested, his blood alcohol level measured 0.19 percent, a level in excess of the statutory level of intoxication (0.08) in the state of Missouri. Little received four years probation and 1,000 hours of community service.

On January 18, 2003, with charges dating back to 1999, Little was charged with communicating threats and making harassing calls according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police department. Little's attorney, Scott Rosenblum, said the charges were filed after Little and his former girlfriend ended their relationship. Rosenblum added, "We don't think this case is going anywhere. It was groundless from the beginning".

On April 24, 2004, he was arrested again for Driving while intoxicated after being stopped by The Ladue Police Department for driving 78 in a 55 miles per hour zone on Interstate 64. At the time he had red eyes, smelled of alcohol and failed three roadside sobriety tests. He later admitted drinking alcohol to the police. After being convicted of misdemeanor speeding but acquitted of DWI, Little was sentenced to two years' probation on May 6, 2005. Source: Wikipedia

In one of Tony Dungy's books he said he had a list of players labeled "do not draft because of character." I guess things have changed in Indy.
That being said, I hope he goes on to straighten his life up and have a solid pro career. If not it would be a monumental waste of talent.

Well I guess it's good they didn't draft him
