Daily Baseball 2013

I just got Gerrit Cole in a trade straight up for Lyles from the Astros #TradeRape

Hopefully it is. Still a bit concerned he is sent back down once Wandy and Burnett are back to ensure that he avoids super 2 status and to work on his secondary pitches a bit.

Cole vs. Hernandez should be fun on Tuesday though

Tyler Glasnow is just doing some ridiculous stuff in the minors. 5 IP, 10ks, and 1 walk. Still a little bit awkward mechanics wise after growing from 5'11 his senior year of high school to 6'7 now, but he is quickly becoming an interesting prospect.

Grilli tried to make things interesting there at the end before striking out trout with the tying run at 3rd and winning one at 2nd

Said Huntington over the weekend: “There's a business component to it, as far as keeping our depth. … Gerrit's probably got the best stuff of anybody in the rotation ... (and) he's made three impressive outings. But the challenge is, if we need another starter (due to injury) later, it may make sense to send Gerrit back so we have a sixth quality starter.”

Do not like

Baltimore's Chris Davis is the fifth player since 2001 to have 28 HR by the end of June and first since Albert Pujols in 2009.

Jeff Locke becomes second pitcher in Pittsburgh's history to make 15 consecutive starts in one season without a loss (Dock Ellis 1971).

Detroit's Miguel Cabrera is the 6th player since 1920 with at least 1,200 RBI and 300 HR in his first 11 MLB seasons.
