Daily Baseball 2013

Barry's final season he had an OBP that would currently be the highest in the league.

And nobody wanted him.

Damn.

Liriano has had 4 starts this year in which the Pirates have had a losing streak of at least 3 and has been 4-0 with at least 7.0IP and an ERA of 0.32

Soriano hit an early grand slam and became the third player to knock in at least six runs in back-to-back games since RBIs became an official statistic in 1920, according to STATS. The others were Texas' Rusty Greer in August 1997 and Milwaukee's Geoff Jenkins in April 2001.

He became the seventh player since 1920 with at least 13 RBIs over consecutive games and the first since Cubs slugger Sammy Sosa had 14 in August 2002, STATS said. The record is 15 by Yankees second baseman Tony Lazzeri in May 1936.

Miguel Cabrera became the first player to hit a homer in consecutive at-bats against Mariano Rivera.

Big day game today. Burnett has been more vocal than anybody I can remember in the last 20 years about bringing the postseason back to pittsburgh since the day he was traded. He can take a big step towards that this afternoon winning a series on the road against the #2 team in the division after blowing the first game of the series

Looks like it is just as well that I couldn't catch today's game. Still just don't get why you would trot out the worst pitcher in your bullpen in extras when you have your best pitcher in Melancon. Not a fan at all of saving somebody for a "save situation" when you are in a situation that you can lose the game on one run
