Daily Beacon editorial calling out Scotty Hopson

The Daily Beacon sucks. I only read the Crime Log in the Beacon when I was in school at UT. The rest of the DB consists of Liberal idiots rambling on about their ideals.

This. The Daily Beacon, their staff, and editors are absolute garbage. It's a shame because there are intelligent people at UT who are capable of expressing and sharing ideas in a professional way. However, the Beacon decides they will just hire the snot-nosed UT bros and sorostitutes.

When I was there, it was a lot more liberal idealism than it was greek. Weekly hangover was much more entertaining.

Haha you have no idea who works there then. I was the only person in a fraternity or sorority when I worked there from 2006-2008. Very nice try though.

What does that have to do with the sports section? There's no politics there.

And by the way Nash's article has stood the test of time. A year later Scotty still hasn't changed. And Nash is with the Kns now.

Actually, The Beacon doesn't hire. The writers are not paid. They are either journalism students or anyone who just enjoys writing. The Beacon is open to anyone who is interested writing for it. I know this because I'm a journalism major at UT. But I do have to agree, the articles really suck.

Oh, I actually did not know that. I'm not a fan, but I suppose it could be worse. Eh, I still really don't like it though lol.

PS, I was unfairly generalizing the Beacon staff as Greeks, I know that there are actually probably few of them.

Oh I know what you mean! The Greeks think they are something special in journalism. The sorority girls think they are the next Katie Couric and the frats think they are going to be on ESPN. It's very very annoying. If you go to UT you should try to volunteer for the Beacon or UTTV's Sports Mecca. It's open to anyone.

If you avoid the middle four pages of the Beacon, it's generally well written. However, everything surrounding the crossword puzzle is pure opinionated trash. Everyone I know writes elsewhere because they don't want to be associated with the bad few. (Not to say there aren't good writers on staff)

I'm sure the UT athletes have dreams too. Which 90% of this message board loves to criticize them. Weird huh? Damn them all
