Daily Dose of Reality, Episode I

Well, Cal's d was supposed to be one of the best we faced all year, and they didn't do much.

We'll see...I don't expect to see receivers running ide open like they have been, though.

I expect to see something between what we saw against Cal and last week, defensively. Florida's style of play fits in perfectly with our speed, so we should be able to get a hand on someone before they are 5 yards downfield. LOL

I'm sticking with 27-24...for now.
Cals pass defense is ranked 104 this I would say that is not a tough D.

But their front 7 are pretty decent no? If our offensive line can continue the great pass blocking, Ainge will find somebody open.:good!:

Hasnt Leak lost about 12 or 13 games in 3 years as a starter. By no means superior.
Your stats as the top in SEC stats are skewed since these 2 opponents were not BCS conference teams and basically warm up matches. If they have the same stats coming in against UT then hats off and will get my praise but there is no way in hell they will put up those numbers.
9 out 13. We are 3 out of the last 5. However, i look at it as 0-0 because every year is unique.

Lawgator I can see where your coming from as Im sure everyone really does too. But this is the worst week to try and objectively analyze game thoughts. Everyone here just smells gator blood....:dunno:

I am having a really hard time giving you too much credit for the Cal win. At first, it really was pretty eye-opening, but in retrospect a few things diminish it. One, of course, would be the performance versus Air Force. Say what you want about tricky offensive schemes, they still lit up your D like a Christmas Tree (424 yards) and that is NOT good considering the superior offense about to come to town.

Second, there is this whole PAC-10 issue out there. Still tough to tell but most people would probably agree that the PAC-10 year-in and year-out is a disappointment against non-conference teams. There are exceptions, such as SoCal the last few years, but overall the impression I think most of us have is that the PAC-10 is just not tough enough to compete with SEC football. As I say, too early to tell if in fact this is the deal with Cal this year, but its an issue.

Third, from what I read the score was 14-0 at half but then in a flurry there were three touchdowns by you in like five mintues. that's tough on anyone and can cause the score to be lopsided relative to the actual contest. Not to mention the fact that going from "in it" down two scores" to suddenly totally out of it down five is a factor.

So, all in all, let's call the Cal win a quality win. But don't rely on it as conclusive evidence that you should be fed ex'd the Sears trophy and passes to the water parks in Tempe.

We should be better by the time a "superior offense" comes to Knoxville. LSU won't be in K-Town until November.

Why is it so hard for you to acknowledge that Florida has an outstanding football team and a reasonable chance to win on Saturday? Admitting these things does not diminish your own team. It shows you have confidence and strength of charact ... oh, just forget it.

Again, you prove yourself incapable of doing the requisite research needed to contribute to the debate. I have stated numerous times in the offseason that Florida will win the game on Saturday. However, that does not diminish the fact that LSU is vastly superior to the Gators on both sides of the ball.

Do you think Florida will beat UT this Saturday?

You realize, don't you, that the rest of the Vol fans on here may kill you for even thinking that.

Yes, I think Florida will win the game Saturday. I've said all offseason it would happen and I've seen nothing in the first two games that changes my mind.

I consider myself objective, however it is Florida week. This is not the time to come on the board and teach Vol fans about strength of character and objectivity. This is the week that we talk about kicking the crap out of Florida.

Unlike some on this board, I stand behind my predictions. I couldn't care less if people do, or do not, like them.

Well, I did not realize that. I am sure i saw the posts in the past but perhaps in the deluge of posts here in the last three days explaining to me that Florida has no chance at all, I guess I just mistakenly assumed otherwise from you.

I know you will be rooting for UT and that you hope you are wrong, but I appreciate your willingness to confess doubts about whether UT will win. I confess my doubts as well about UF and particularly the O-line. I keep coming back to it. Hope I am pleasantly surprised, but I am prepared to be sadly reassured that I am right.

This year, Florida ranks first in the SEC in passing offense (340.5 yards per game) and total offense (514 yards per game) and has converted 70.8 percent of its third-down plays.
You threw this in their for comic relief, right? Because I know that you would not be throwing around stats after only playing Southern Miss and the University of Central Florida. I know this because that would be absolutely stupid, and you are not stupid, are you, LG?

That rates no higher on the stupidity meter than our fans using statistics garnered against Cal and Air Force to prop up the assertion that Eric Ainge is now a combination of Peyton Manning, Sammy Baugh, Dan Marino, and Captain Marvel.

Putting up wins against Southern Miss, is inherently different than putting placing the beating that we did on the ninth ranked team in the country. Until Cal drops completely out of the top 25, you have no argument, sir.

"Chris is a tough nut," Meyer said. "I just gave him a big hug. He's bawling his eyes out like some of those other guys."

Would that be the Cal pass defense that ranked 104th in the nation last year? Tell me again how Washington was going to beat Oklahoma.

I'm not stupid. At least, I don't think I'm stupid. Then again, if I were stupid, I probably wouldn't know it. But if I realize that I would not know if I was stupid, does that not in and of itself prove that I am not stupid? This hurts my stupid little head.:pinch:

For how badly you thought OU would beat Washington, Washington played one bad quarter. That was it, Hat.
